The Don’s Fake Sister in Law Chapter 01

The Don’s Fake Sister in Law Chapter 01

I rushed to the hospital to find Nathan lying in a VIP bed, a bandage wrapped around his head like a prop.

He looked confused as he stared at me.

“Who are you?”

I paused for a moment, then smiled.

I tugged at my collar, revealing the red marks on my neck.

“I’m your sister-in-law, Donna—Donna Campbell, though I haven’t officially married into the family yet.”

The hospital room door was closed.

Outside stood his brother, Ethan Campbell, waiting for me to break up with Nathan.

When I’d heard Nathan had been in a car accident, I’d been with Ethan.

He’d looked at me with that knowing smirk of his, waving a five-million-dollar Swiss bank check in my face.

“Miss Mitchell, no one can predict the future between you and Nathan.”

“But your future starts now—smooth sailing from this moment. The Campbell family will clear every obstacle for you.”

Nathan and I had been together for two years, and he’d never once mentioned his family background.

Then a while back, I ran into him while I was working a side gig.

He’d just come from a formal dinner with his friends, checking out of a presidential suite that cost fifty thousand a night.

I was standing quietly at the front desk when he spotted me.

I wasn’t tired, I wasn’t bitter.

But the look on his face shifted into something awkward.

“I didn’t tell you before because I was afraid you’d feel pressured being with me. I also didn’t want rival families targeting you.”

I stared at him, pointing at myself in disbelief.

Me? Did I look like the type with that much pride?

If you’d told me you were loaded back then, I wouldn’t have made you chase me for over a year.

Almost no one knew about our relationship.

But somehow, word got back to the Campbells after his friends saw us.

That was when I met the family’s don—Nathan’s older brother, Ethan. The man who ran the whole operation.

And he had a face seven-tenths like Nathan’s.

When Ethan looked down at me, his presence felt heavy enough to make me tremble.

Ethan wanted me to break up with Nathan.

Last night, he’d sent me a video.

In it, he and Nathan sat across from each other.

Compared to the still-immature Nathan, his brother was clearly more seasoned, more controlled. Even in silence, he made your spine go cold.

Ethan spoke slowly, each word landing like a hammer.

“I heard you met Claire in college and chased her for a long time. She’s got a terrible temper, but once she found out about your family, she started acting sweet and obedient overnight.”

The implication was obvious—gold digger. Fake. Settling for less because of the money.

Nathan hurried to defend me. “She’s not like that!”

But there was no weight behind it.

He was just reacting. Even he didn’t seem to believe his own words.

Compared to Ethan, Nathan was no match.

Ethan smirked when he saw Nathan take the bait.

“Really? Then how about we put on a little show? You fake amnesia from the accident, act cold and distant, and we’ll see how she really reacts.”

The video ended there.

And now, here we were.

Nathan had taken the part.
