The Price of Betraying a Mafia Princess Chapter 08

My father looked at me with pain in his eyes and nodded.

But before turning to leave, he gave Luca a hard look. “I always knew you weren’t good enough for Aurora. From today on, the Moretti family is pulling every investment from your company.”

“Pay back the fifty million in startup money within three days, with interest. Otherwise, you know how I collect debts. As for the projects, our legal department will contact you.”

Then he turned to the consigliere behind him. “Leo, contact Michele Russo after this and have him

prepare the divorce agreement.”

I smiled faintly.

My father and I were thinking the same thing: cut Luca off immediately and recover every asset.

But Michele had already been drafting the divorce agreement for me.

My father was still furious. “By the way, go through the books for Luca’s lousy company from the

last few years. Recover every cent we’re owed.”

At those words, Luca finally panicked completely.

He rushed forward and grabbed my arm, pleading, “Aurora, no. I was wrong. Tell your father to

stop. There’s nothing between Iris and me. I swear.”

“That child isn’t mine. It’s really not. I swear I never touched her.”

His grip was painful.

A shocked murmur swept through the crowd.

Someone pointed at me with a trembling finger. “She’s really Mrs. Davis…”

“Oh my God. Iris was that arrogant just now?”

“Wait. Luca was the one who said Noah’s mom was his wife.”

“So that man is actually his father–in–law? That’s hilarious. Iris kept calling him Dad.”

“Right? She even claimed the real wife had him as a sugar daddy. She just says whatever she

wants.”

Then someone lifted a phone toward my father’s face, voice shaking. “Am I seeing this right? That’s Don Vincenzo Moretti! Look. Isn’t he the man cutting the ribbon in this photo?”

It was a photo of my father cutting the ribbon at one of the Moretti family’s newly public companies.

There was no mistake.

Iris stared at me in disbelief. “How is that possible? You’re… Don Moretti’s daughter? How…”

Luca shoved her aside and put on a loving look. “Aurora, I only felt sorry for Iris. She was afraid people would laugh at her for being a single mother, so I came to help her. Please believe me.‘

“As for the playground, that was just the company doing charity work to improve our public image. Really. It wasn’t for Iris’s son.”

Every sentence was an excuse.

The people watching were not stupid. They quickly understood what had really happened, and their

faces shifted between embarrassment and horror.

Luca didn’t notice at all. He kept talking, “And that villa. I asked Iris to help buy it as a gift for you. I didn’t expect her to get greedy and put it under her own name. Don’t worry. I’ll make her transfer

the deed to you later.”

I looked at him.

He was one hell of a liar. In just a few sentences, he had pushed every bit of blame onto Iris.

“What…” Iris looked at him with tears in her eyes. “But that was clearly…”

Luca glared at her, and she hurriedly shrank back with Noah in her arms.

I only found it ridiculous.

I stared at Luca. “Where were you last night?”
