They Sent Me To Prison For Her, I Bought A Grave For Me Chapter 08

Bryony gave him a contemptuous laugh.

“That scar on her wrist? We put it there. Her right hand is useless because we were told to destroy it.”

She took another drag from her cigarette.

“Who would invent something like that about herself?”

A vein pulsed in Crispin’s temple.

“Who gave the order?”

Bryony smirked.

“Who do you think?”

She held out her hand.

“Pay me first.”

Crispin forced himself to remain still.

“Fine. You’ll get the $500,000.”

Her smile widened.

“Your precious Jessa paid us $15,000 a month to ‘take care’ of Mirelle.”

“She told us to ruin her hand. Feed her scraps. Make every day so unbearable she’d wish she were

dead.”

Bryony paused, enjoying the horror on his face.

“She bribed corrections officers too. As long as Mirelle was alive, Jessa saw her as a threat.”

Crispin stumbled back.

For three years, his sister had been living through hell.

And every time she begged him for help, he had called her a liar.

Bryony extended her hand again.

“You have your answer. Now pay me.”

Her expression turned hard.

“Or I release every video.”

Crispin slowly raised his eyes to hers.

They were bloodshot and burning with rage.

“You tortured my sister.”

His voice was quiet enough to be terrifying.

“Every one of you is going to pay.”

Two members of his security detail stepped out of the shadows and seized Bryony by the arms.

Her cigarette dropped to the ground.

“What the hell are you doing, Crispin?”

“Turn her over to the police,” he said coldly.

“Find everyone who touched Mirelle inside Westmoor. The inmates. The corrections officers. All of

them.”

“No one walks away.”

Crispin drove back to the hotel like a man possessed.

The moment he entered the suite, Jessa rushed over and clung to his arm.

“You’re back. Did Mirelle disappear again just to make you chase after her? She’s doing this on

purpose-”

“Those statements were fabricated.”

His hoarse voice stopped her cold.

“You paid the inmates and officers to lie for you.”

Guilt flashed across Jessa’s face.

Then she tightened her grip on him.

“How can you believe that? I interviewed everyone myself. Why would I lie?”

Her eyes filled with wounded disbelief.

“Did Mirelle tell you this?”

“You’re still lying.”

Crispin grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the wall.

Jessa choked, clawing frantically at his wrist.

“Crispin… let go…”

“You ordered them to crush her hand!”

His roar shook the room.

“She was vomiting blood. She has cancer. She’s dying, and you stole the grave she bought for

herself so you could bury your dog in it.”

His grip tightened.

“How could you do that to her?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

The lie came automatically, but died the moment she met his eyes.

Crispin saw the fear there.

And the guilt.

He struck her across the face.

“How could you?”

Jessa’s sobs weakened as her knees began to buckle.

The door flew open.

Ephraim rushed inside.

“What are you doing? Let her go.

“Ephraim,” Jessa cried. “I don’t know what Mirelle told him. He’s trying to kill me.”

Crispin laughed without humor and shoved her away.

“Everything Mirelle suffered at Westmoor happened because Jessa ordered it.’

He turned to Ephraim.

“And if you stay with her, you won’t receive a single share of Wexley Group.”

“What?”

Jessa grabbed Ephraim’s pant leg, but he kicked her hand away and seized Crispin by the shoulder.

“What did you just say?”

Then he met Crispin’s bloodshot stare and understood.

Mirelle had been bent over a trash can, vomiting, while he accused her of carrying another man’s

child.

The disbelief on her face.

The disgust.

Ephraim struck himself across the face.

“I’m despicable.”

He looked down at Jessa, his expression turning glacial.

“Call emergency services. Have her placed under psychiatric evaluation.”

Jessa stared at him.

“No. Ephraim, you can’t do this to me. I’m your wife!”

Her voice rose into a hysterical scream.

Ephraim only smiled.

“I never loved you.”

The words drained the color from her face.

“You were convenient. That’s all. I used you because I thought it would make Mirelle jealous.”

Jessa collapsed to the floor.

When security dragged her from the suite, she was still screaming his name.
