Rebirth: My Sister Stole My Rapist Husband Chapter 06 The Airport Dash

“Clara. Finn knows now. His flight leaves tonight, and he’s never coming back. Your little daydream’s been shattered. “In that instant, I felt as if I’d been plunged into a vat of ice water.

Luke pressed a doting kiss to Lila’s forehead and purred, “Sweetheart, let’s go home. Don’t let such sights taint your pretty eyes.”

The door clicked shut behind them.

The thugs shoved me to the floor.

My vision blurred at the edges.

The next second, the private room door crashed open.

“Clara! Are you okay? Who the hell is messing with our future sister-in-law on our turf?”

Before the words fully landed, the thugs were already on the ground, getting pummeled. Fists connected with sickening thuds, one after another.

I finally made out their faces-Finn’s closest friends, the guys who were always by his side.

My whole body shook, but I didn’t even check my own injuries.

I grabbed one of them by the sleeve, my voice barely holding together.

“Where’s Finn? Where is he?”

They exchanged wary glances, hesitating.

Finally, one sighed and said quietly, “He left for abroad today. Right about now… he should already be boarding.”

At that moment, I could feel my teeth chattering. I gripped their arms tighter, screaming with every ounce of strength I had.

“Take me to the airport! Now!”

They didn’t hesitate, shoving me into the car.

The car sped toward the airport, wind whistling past the windows.

My mind went completely blank, leaving only one thought: I had to make it in time.

Finn was a good man. He shouldn’t be getting on that plane because of me. shouldn’t crash.

shouldn’t vanish.

I choked out the words, my voice breaking.

“Call him… Call him right now. Tell him not to board the plane.”

They took turns dialing, but no one answered. The car fell deathly silent.

Sensing I was falling apart, they started filling me in on Finn, bit by bit.

They said Finn had been abused by the nanny he’d trusted most when he was a kid.

That’s why he was so bad with emotions-he’d never learned how to show someone he cared.

They said he’d actually liked me from the start. He just didn’t know what to do.

It was their fault. They’d given him stupid advice, telling him to get my attention-and gone about it in the worst possible way. That’s why I’d thought he was out to get me.

They also said that during the days I’d been unconscious in the hospital, Finn, still recovering from the flood himself, had refused to leave my bedside. Not a single step.

He’d never even set foot in a kitchen before, but he’d taught himself to cook, making a mess every time. Yet he’d insisted those meals were “chef-made.”

Suddenly, those terrible meals he’d brought me made perfect sense.

A smile tugged at my lips, but tears spilled over first.

All I could do was beg, over and over in my heart: Let me catch that plane.

The car screeched to a halt at the airport entrance.

I stumbled out, running like a madwoman toward the boarding gates. All I heard was the thud of my own frantic footsteps and my ragged breath.

But just as I reached the gate, the announcement blared. The staff’s voice was low, heavy with

sorrow.

“Attention, please. Flight to Aldoria has encountered a meteor shower en route. The aircraft has crashed into the sea. Casualty status is currently unknown.”

My legs buckled.

That flight number. That route.

It was Finn’s plane.

The world went completely silent. I collapsed to the floor and finally let myself sob, wailing without restraint.

The crowd stirred.

Then a familiar figure pushed through the throng.

It was Finn.

He strode toward me in a few long strides and pulled me into his arms, holding me tight.

For a moment, I froze.

Then I threw my arms around him, clutching his clothes like he might vanish if I let go.

I tilted my head back, desperate to see his face, to confirm with my own eyes that he was really here, really unharmed.

The breath I’d been holding finally escaped.

I buried my face in his chest, my voice shaking.

“Why didn’t you answer your phone! Do you have any idea… you scared me to death!”
