In truth, for five years, Silas had deliberately paraded one affair after another in front of Calista just

to provoke her.

Yet he had taken little pleasure in any of it.

Breaking an innocent woman and driving her out of her mind was revenge, not pleasure.

Silas glanced at the guards.

“Did you get her downstairs? She hasn’t been discharged yet. Don’t be too rough with her.”

The guards exchanged a quick glance with Caterina. She discreetly gave them a hand signal.

One of them nodded.

“Ms. Orsini has been taken downstairs.”

Silas relaxed.

“Don’t blame her, Silas. I’m the one who upset her,” Caterina said gently.

Her hand was cool and slender, making her seem all the more vulnerable.

A faint mix of bitterness and pain spread through Silas, but he still said, “You did nothing wrong. This is my fault. Five years ago, I knew she had taken credit for saving me and used it to marry me, but I kept putting off divorcing her.”

“Caterina, I promise you, even if my mother tries to stop me this time, I’m marrying you. Even if Father were still alive, he would understand my choice.”

Caterina’s eyes lit up as she leaned into his arms.

“Do you think Calista will retaliate against me?”

“She wouldn’t dare. The cemetery my men arranged to have bulldozed wasn’t even the Orsini family plot. Besides, she owed you that much!”

The next moment, Silas’s private phone rang.

“Ms. Orsini was photographed entering and leaving a private clinic with a mystery man. Did you know about that, Mr. Serrano?”

Ignoring Caterina’s attempts to dissuade him, Silas stopped and faced the cameras.

“Calista and I are divorced… But you said she miscarried? That’s impossible.”
