From OT To Wheelchair: He Cried When I Boarded Chapter 07

He dropped to his knees in front of my wheelchair. The sound echoed.

People around us turned to stare.

He looked up at me, eyes red, voice shaking.

“Thank God. You’re alive. You’re really alive.”

He reached out, wanting to hold my hand.

Nausea hit me.

I raised my hand and shoved him away.

The wheelchair rolled back.

My expression remained cold.

“If there’s a God, he’d make sure I never saw you again.”

Julian froze. Something broke in his expression.

He sat there stunned. Then he grabbed my hand again.

“Zoe,” his voice shook. “You still hate me, don’t you?”

I tried to pull my hand back. He held on tighter.

“I know the truth.”

He looked at me, eyes bloodshot.

“I know about the meds in your bag. I know what that man did to you…”

He took a deep breath, forcing the words out.

“I had someone look into it. I know I left you alone with that drunk. I know what he did.”

My heart went cold.

He sank down before my wheelchair.

“And our baby.”

His voice broke.

“I didn’t know you were pregnant. Didn’t know we lost…”

His hands shook as he pulled a small box from his pocket. He held it carefully.

“I got our baby’s ashes from the hospital. I keep them with me. Always.”

“I look at it whenever I miss you.”

His eyes were red. His voice hollow.

“I’ve been looking for you everywhere. Just wanted to apologize. To win you back.”

“Hit me, curse me, anything-just don’t look at me like I’m nothing.”

I pulled my hand away and spoke coldly.

“If you really understood what you did to me, you’d stay away.”

He flinched. Went still.

Perfume. Chloe’s perfume.

Chloe stepped out of the crowd, perfect makeup, gentle smile.

“Zoe, you can’t be like this.”

“You can’t just dump my brother because you found someone new.”

She took two steps forward, stood beside Julian, and gently held his arm.

“If you hadn’t picked that fight with him, he wouldn’t have left

you there.”

“Besides, who at that bar didn’t know who my brother was?”

“Why didn’t you just tell that man you were Julian’s fiancée?”

“You stayed quiet out of spite. Now you’re blaming him for what happened. Isn’t that unfair?”

My chest tightened. I couldn’t breathe.

“So,” I stared at Julian and let out a cold laugh.

“So you brought her here? To gang up on me again?”

“Get out of my sight. Now.”

Chloe opened her mouth, but Julian cut her off.

“Chloe, shut up.”

He took a deep breath and turned back to me, his voice low.

“I dealt with that man. The one from that night.”

“I warned everyone who was there.”

“That day… I hit you because I didn’t know. I didn’t know the fall paralyzed you. I thought you were faking it, playing victim…”

I stared at him, unmoved. He kept begging.

“Come back with me. We’ll get married right away. I’ll get you the best therapists. Even if you never walk again, I’ll take care of you forever.”

I spat out two words.

“In your dreams.”

His face went rigid. Then he snapped.

“Are you really this cruel?”

“You won’t come back because there’s someone else, isn’t there?”

He lunged forward, grabbed the armrests, eyes wild.

“Who is he?”

“Who is he? Can he treat you like I did? You’re in a wheelchair! You think he’ll stick around?”

He took a deep breath.

“I can pay him off. Name his price.”

“He walks away, he’s set for life.”

A voice came from behind me. Cold. Male.

“Who are you bargaining with?”

Someone gripped the handles.

I looked back.

It was Ethan.

He looked down at Julian, still kneeling on the floor.

“My sister is priceless.” His voice was calm, cold. “You don’t get to put a price on her.”

Julian’s head snapped up.

“Who are you?”

Ethan didn’t even look at him. He just said,

“Remove him.”

Bodyguards appeared. They grabbed Julian by the arms.

Julian fought them, trying to look at me.

“Zoe!”

“Don’t go!”

“I know I was wrong! I can make it up to you! I can-”

Before he could finish, the bodyguards dragged him out of the crowd.

Chloe’s face went pale. She tried to grab him, but another bodyguard blocked her path.

“Miss, please leave as well.”

“You are not welcome here.”

She stumbled back, glaring at me with pure hatred.

“Zoe, you’ll regret this!”

I gave her a flat look.

“That’s not your problem. Worry about yourself.”

Chloe ran.

Ethan turned my wheelchair around and pushed me away.
