I Kidnapped The Mafia Don, Tied Him To My Bed Chapter 05

Nine days after finding out I was sick; I dragged my feverish body to buy a burial plot

The sales rep asked if I had any preferences. I smiled and shook my head. “It’s for me. As for requirements…

I tilted my head. Thought about it. Under the rep’s pitying gaze, I told her, “I want it lively.”

I was terrified of loneliness. Didn’t want to be alone after death.

I’d pissed off Caspian. Figured my funeral would be Lara’s problem.

So I put Lara Quinn’s number as the contact. Then had Lara come with me to take pretty portrait photos.

Lara asked, “Why the birthday photos all of a sudden? Finally coming around?”

I smiled. Didn’t answer.

Her assumption wasn’t crazy. The day after tomorrow was my birthday. Twenty-six.

Among all the colorful shots, I picked the one with the brightest smile. Whispered to the clerk, “Make this

one black and white.”

The clerk said it wasn’t appropriate.

I laughed. “It is. It’s for my memorial photo.”

Without him, my world would just be black and white.

That night, Maren called. Gentle as always. “Zoya, your birthday’s the day after tomorrow. Come over. We’ll

celebrate together. Caspian will be here too.”

Caspian’s face when he stormed out hadn’t been pretty.

I thought about it and declined. “Sorry, Maren. I just booked a trip with a friend. I’ll visit when I’m back.”

Didn’t want my birthday to get ugly.

For my birthday, I wanted a huge cake at home. Get drunk with Lara.

But I passed out in the cake shop.

Woke up in the hospital. The clerk had called emergency.

I thanked her.

But I also thought, if my life ended just like that, it was good.

The doctor looked at me dead serious “You need to be admitted.”

I shook my head Smiled. “I don’t ”

When I left the hospital, I saw Caspian. Hadn’t seen him in two days.

Next to him, a pretty girl. Never seen her before.

He was smiling at her.

I spat mentally. Bastard.

I got a call from my mother, Ivy Reed.

My parents divorced when I was in middle school. Both had money. Neither wanted me.

So they moved out separately. Left me alone in the big house. Hired a housekeeper for daily needs.

They both started new families fast.

Before eighteen, my card got monthly deposits from them. Decent amounts.

The second month after my eighteenth birthday, the money stopped.

Over ten years now. Not a single call. Didn’t even know where they lived. If they were still in the city.

But now she called me sweetly. “Zoya, free for dinner?”

Guess God pitied me. Wanted me not to die all alone.

I went to the restaurant she named. Entered the private room. She sat at the table. Next to her, a little boy.

Looked about ten.

She waved me over warmly. “Zoya, come let me see you.”

“This is your brother, Ethan Reed.”

“Ethan, call your sister.”

I looked at the boy coldly. His face screamed resistance.

But Ivy patted his shoulder. Voice firm. “Call her!”

I wasn’t stupid. I shook my head. “Forget it.”

In the five minutes after I sat down, I learned my mother could smile.

She smiled. Said I’d grown up. Gotten pretty. Then patted her chest with relief. “I knew you were an

independent child. Looks like you’ve been doing great all these years.”

I didn’t know where she got that from. But I didn’t want to sit here anymore. “I thought you’d left the city long

ago.”

She nodded. Smiled all loving. “Yes. I came back especially to see you with Ethan.”

I felt like throwing up. “Excuse me. Bathroom.”

I vomited until I saw stars. Came out dizzy. Crashed into a solid chest. Heard a familiar voice.

“Zoya, you’ve been living it up lately. Drinking yourself stupid? You trying to die?”

I looked up. Confirmed my guess. It was Caspian.

I steadied my wobbly legs. “None of your business.”

Caspian grabbed my wrist. “You told my mom you were traveling. Let’s see who you’ve been partying with.”

I laughed. “Sure.”

When Ivy saw me bring someone back to the room, her face soured. “Zoya, who is this?”

“My friend.”

Caspian’s gaze swept between us. Figured it out instantly.

I thought he’d leave. Instead, he pulled me down to sit.

Ivy’s face got worse. “Zoya, I came to discuss something private.”

Meaning Caspian shouldn’t be here. But he acted like he didn’t understand. Poured himself a glass of champagne. “No problem. Pretend I’m not here.”

I looked at Ivy’s troubled expression. Decided to be direct. “Mom, you haven’t contacted me in over ten years.

You must have something important. Spit it out.”

She bit her lip. Suddenly tears fell. “Zoya, your brother’s sick. I beg you. Go get tested. Save him!”

As expected. No contact without an agenda.

Caspian sat silent.

I closed my eyes. “What do you need from me?”

Hope exploded in Ivy’s eyes. “A kidney! Please save him!”
