I tilted my head ,meeting Ethan’s eyes. with Ethan.

Ethan frowned instantly. “Watch your language. You’re a girl?”

I repeated, “None of your business.”

A crack flashed across his icy composure.He looked away, muttering, “You’re really insane.”

Like a broken record, I said it again.”None of your business.”

Ethan’s face darkened. He wordlessly shifted away, putting clear distance between us.

A laugh burst from Lucas, shaking his body.

The blade edge grazed his throat, drawing a thin line of blood.

He didn’t care. He just kept laughing.

When the fit subsided, he looked at me again.

Tears glistened in his eyes, making him look like the innocent boy I once knew.

I loosened my grip slightly.

I reached right in, digging through his pants pocket.

For some reason, Lucas let out a strangled groan.

I finished out his phone and shoved it in his face.

He took it, tapped the screen a few times, and a payment alert buzzed from my bag nearby.

Only then did I let go, starting to climb off him.

Suddenly, Lucas’s arm snaked around my waist, yanking me flush against his chest.

I instinctively raised the bottle to stab him.

But he pinned my hands behind my back.

I was crushed against him, his chest vibrating with silent laughter.

I bit down hard on the firm muscle beneath my lips.

I didn’t let go. My mouth filled with the taste of blood.

I wanted him to release me.
