I Saw Comments Saying I Would Die Alone After the Fourth Divorce Chapter 02

My temples were throbbing. Even flat on my back in bed, my chest felt like someone was sitting on

None of it made sense. Julian and I were the married ones.

Why were all those comments cheering for a woman who knew exactly what she was doing walking into someone else’s marriage on purpose? Was it really just because she was the so-called

female lead and I was the villainess?

I came into the world the hard way – complications, the whole ordeal. I had been a little slow on the uptake ever since. It wasn’t anything anyone would diagnose, but it was enough for people to

notice.

At family gatherings, my relatives loved whispering about me when they thought I couldn’t hear. Their favorite joke was that I could get scammed blind and still thank the guy for his trouble.

I was lazy, too. The second anything got hard, my first instinct was to quit. Sticking with things took

effort I never seemed to have.

Giving up, though — that came naturally. Lucky for me, I had a dad who made up for everything I

lacked.

He ran the National Science Institute – he had mentored more brilliant students than I could

count. Julian was the best of all of them.

Julian looking the way he did didn’t hurt – tall, lean, with the kind of presence that made every

room feel smaller. One look was all it took. I was done for.

I rode my dad’s coattails shamelessly, chased Julian for three straight years, and somehow —

miraculously – melted his icy exterior.

Julian didn’t come from money, but he didn’t need to. The man was brilliant in every way that

mattered, and my dad never let anyone forget it.

Julian lived up to the praise. His team’s project took off, his net worth followed, and within a few

years everyone was calling him the golden-boy CEO – young, self-made, unstoppable.

Money and power pulled women in, and they started circling. Back when he had nothing, I was the

only one who wanted him.

Now that he was rich and gorgeous, the playing field looked different. But here’s the thing – Julian

was cold to everyone, and that included me. He didn’t give other women so much as a second glance, so I never worried.

Until Audrey showed up. Around her, something in Julian shifted – and I could feel it.

I had three divorces behind me, and Audrey was the reason for every one. Every single one started

with one of her little stunts.

She left lipstick on Julian’s collar. She sent flirty texts at midnight. She showed up to a gala in the

exact same dress as me.

Julian never saw it. Every time I was shaking with fury, the only thing he’d say – calm enough to make me want to scream – was, “You’re being paranoid. She’s not like that.”

So I changed tactics. I picked my moment — in bed, mid-act — and whispered, “Fire Audrey.” Julian stopped moving, pressed me deeper into the mattress, and murmured, “Whatever you say.

I’ll handle it.”

The next morning, Audrey was right there at his desk like nothing had changed.

I lost it. Fine – if he wanted her so badly, I’d make it easy. I told him, “I want a divorce.” Julian just looked at me, dead quiet, and said, “You sure about that?”

I told him I was sure. He said okay. He didn’t fight it. He didn’t even flinch.

But every time – every single time – Julian showed up within a month, asking me to come back.

And every time, I said yes.

Why did I keep saying yes? There wasn’t some noble reason. That face and that body made me

stupid every time.
