Pain stabbed through my chest.

Obviously, I was the one he didn’t want there.

I muttered something about needing the restroom and got away as fast as I could.

The moment I was alone, I broke.

Tears spilled down my face as every hurt and humiliation from the past few days crashed over me at once.

I didn’t know how long I stood there crying.

By the time I finally pulled myself together and headed back, I ran into Madox.

“Hey. What happened?”

I shook my head, but my voice still trembled.

“I’m fine.”

“Your makeup says otherwise.”

He pulled a pack of cleansing wipes from his bag and handed me one.

“Here.”

“Thanks, Madox.”

I wiped my face, but he reached for another.

“You missed a spot.”

He gently wiped beneath my eye.

Then Leith’s thoughts exploded in my head.

[Him AGAIN?!]

[This is driving me INSANE!]

I frowned and turned around.

Sure enough, Leith stood a short distance away.

Madox followed my gaze.

“That guy from your family?”

“Yeah.”

“You going over there?”

“No. We’re not close.”

Madox let it drop, and we continued back toward the dorm

As we passed Leith, he suddenly grabbed my wrist.

The moment he saw my red, swollen eyes, he pulled out his phone with his free hand.

[Why were you crying?]

I yanked my wrist away.
