The Silent Heir Heard Every Secret I Hid Chapter 09

The next morning, I headed out for class and spotted Leith standing across from Mariston Hall with

breakfast in his hands.

Before I could react, Tova ran past me.

She called out a quick hello, hurried over to Leith, and took the breakfast sandwich and strawberry smoothie

from him.

“How did you know I didn’t have time to grab breakfast?”

She beamed at him.

“You’re the sweetest, Leith.”

The comments appeared.

[The adorable campus romance officially begins!]

[I ship them SO HARD. The male lead doesn’t even have class this morning, but he still got up early to bring

the heroine breakfast.]

[The villainess is seriously ruining the view.]

I grabbed my roommate and pulled her away.

She kept looking back enviously.

“That guy was gorgeous. Imagine having a boyfriend bring you breakfast before class.”

She sighed dramatically.

“Please let me date someone like that before I die.”

A dull ache spread through my chest.

I couldn’t explain it.

When I reached the classroom, I finally noticed Leith’s message.

[Where are you?]

I replied: [In class. Did you need something?]

He took a while to answer.

[No.]

What was his problem?

After dinner, my roommate and I headed across campus to walk it off.

We heard cheers coming from the outdoor basketball court and wandered over to see what was happening. The crowd was packed, and we were about to leave when Tova waved us over.

“Tavia! Over here! I saved room.”

I opened my mouth to refuse, but my roommate was already dragging me through the crowd.

Tova looked at me eagerly.

“Did you come to watch Leith play?”

“Uh…”

I hadn’t even known Leith played basketball.

I definitely hadn’t known he was in tonight’s game.

Tova kept talking beside me.

“He’s really good. He played varsity all through high school.”

“I used to watch every game I could.”

When the game started, I realized she wasn’t exaggerating.

Leith sank several three-pointers and moved across the court like he owned it.

During halftime, he looked toward the crowd.

The setting sun washed him in amber light, making him look younger and softer than usual.

Then I heard the joy bursting through his thoughts.

[She came!!!]

But a second later, his mood changed.

[Why did SHE come too?]

[God, she’s everywhere. This is so annoying.]
