I Had His Daughter: She Had His Name Chapter 08

Grant had looked into Colton’s paternity before.

When Vivian was five months pregnant, he’d ordered a non-invasive prenatal paternity test.

The report came back: paternity supported.

So he’d claimed Colton and tacitly allowed Vivian to move through the Calloway social circle as Mrs.

Calloway.

After Colton was born, one of the routine screenings flagged an unusual blood type.

Grant had asked about it.

Vivian held the baby, tears appearing on cue.

“The doctor said the initial screening might have had a contaminated sample. Could be a data entry

error too. The retest is the only one that counts.”

“Grant, if you don’t trust me, I’ll take the baby for a paternity test right now.”

She said it with such openness. Such transparency that Grant felt like pressing the issue would

make him the cruel one.

More importantly, he’d already passed the point of no return.

His assistant reopened the investigation into the original testing facility.

The lab director at the private hospital had resigned six months ago.

His bank account showed a wire transfer from one of Vivian’s offshore accounts.

The original samples had been swapped.

When Vivian was called into the office, she tried to cry.

“Grant, I really didn’t know.”

Grant threw the file in front of her.

“Why were the samples switched?”

Vivian was quiet for a long time. Finally, she whispered, “I was just afraid you wouldn’t want this child.”

Grant let out a single, hollow laugh.

“So you lied to me?”

Vivian wiped her tears, and then, unexpectedly, she smiled.

“Grant Calloway, were you really just a victim here?”

“Did I make you force Stella into that aide’s uniform?”

“Did I make you leave Luna’s father line blank?”

“You knew perfectly well that Stella was your wife. You knew she’d just given birth. You knew that baby girl was your own flesh and blood.”

“And every single time, you chose me.”

She looked him dead in the eye.

“You weren’t deceived into getting here.”

“You knew exactly who you were hurting at every step, and you still chose me.”

Grant couldn’t move.

Vivian had lied to him. That was true.

But he had abandoned Stella and Luna. That was also true.

The court-ordered paternity test results came back on a day Hartford was drowning in rain.

The samples were collected under full judicial supervision.

Not biologically related.

Three words on a piece of paper.

Mrs. Calloway grabbed the wall for support and couldn’t steady herself for a long time.

“How can Colton not be a Calloway?”

Grant requested a retest.

The second result was the same.

Not biologically related.

The Calloway legal team immediately filed suit against Vivian for fraud and misappropriation.

Colton’s education trust, the gifted property, the trust fund arrangements, all frozen.

The project resources Vivian had accessed under the title of the Calloway heir’s mother entered the clawback process.

The tabloid accounts, scrambling to save themselves, turned over their communications records,

Megan Kirsch flipped too.

“Vivian told me to film it. She told me to cut the first half. She said as long as Stella got branded as the other woman, the Calloways would have to keep claiming her and Colton to save face.”

The Langford family cut ties immediately.

Vivian’s father personally issued a statement: Vivian Langford’s actions are her own and do not represent the Langford family.

Everyone who used to call her Mrs. Calloway vanished overnight.

The day Vivian carried Colton out of the Calloway estate, no driver came.

She called the house manager.

All he said was, “Ms. Langford, your vehicle privileges have been revoked.”

She called the Langford house.

The security guard answered.

“Ms. Langford, Mr. Langford says it’s not a good time for you to come home.”

The rain came down harder. Colton was wailing in her arms.

She stood outside the Calloway gates with her suitcase, her phone buzzing with a court asset freeze notification.

Reporters closed in.

“Ms. Langford, is it true that Colton isn’t Mr. Calloway’s biological child?”

“You bribed a lab to swap paternity test samples. Are you facing fraud charges?”

“The Calloway clawback is reportedly nine figures. How do you plan to pay?”

Vivian lowered her head. She couldn’t even cry anymore.

She had believed that holding onto the child meant holding onto the Calloways.

In the end, she was holding that child when the Calloways threw her out.

Six months later, Vivian lost the defamation case. The sample-swapping and fraud cases moved into enforcement. Her property was seized. The Langford family didn’t pay a cent on her behalf.
