He Canceled Our Wedding 18 TIMES for His Bestie Chapter 07

Griffin ended up kicking Mirabelle out.

And he cut off every single relative who’d shown up just to crash the reception. No exceptions..

He tried reaching out to Sandra’s family to find out where she was only to realize they’d stopped talking to him years ago.

By the third time he’d canceled their wedding, they’d stopped coming altogether. They’d cut out everything and everyone that embarrassed Sandra.

That included the one person responsible for it all. Him.

He went to Sandra’s old company next.

All he got was news that she’d quit and moved to another job.

She didn’t even serve out her notice period. Just paid the penalty and walked.

He drifted around the country, drowning in regret.

Meanwhile, I’d already started my new job overseas.

The pay was better, though the workload was heavier.

But I loved every second of it.

Seven years of waiting for Griffin had gotten me nothing, not even a wedding.

But at work? I could get whatever I wanted, just by putting in the effort.

No absurd critiques. No bending over backward.

Just me, going all in for myself.

Then, one night about two months later, I got a call from an unknown number. It was Griffin.

His voice was hoarse, but he spoke softly, like he was afraid of scaring me off.

“Sandra? Is that you?”

I didn’t answer, so he just kept rambling.

“I know I messed up, Sandra.”

“I shouldn’t have been so obsessed with perfection. I shouldn’t have ignored how you felt. And I definitely shouldn’t have given away things that were yours to Mirabelle.”

I’ve had two months to think it over. I don’t care about a perfect wedding anymore. Just come back.

We can start over.”

“We’ll pick the flowers you love. You can wear whatever you want. And I know you’ve missed your . mother’s bracelet. You can put it on in our wedding.”

“We’ll enjoy all the trips and candlelit dinners you never got to have before!”

“Anything that makes you happy. Anything you want. We’ll do it together. We’ll buy it together.”

“Sandra, can we try again?”

Silence hung in the air. I heard him swallow nervously on the other end.

I almost laughed.

The same Griffin who’d never bent for anyone was nervous now.

But I didn’t feel a thing. “Too late, Griffin.”

“How can it be too late, Sandra?”

His voice cracked, almost teary. “I’m still waiting for you.”

I tilted my head. “So?”

“Does waiting just magically make things work?”

“I waited for you for seven years. If I hadn’t walked away on my own, I would’ve waited forever and

never seen you change.”

“So here’s what I figured out. Waiting is a one-person job. It has nothing to do with the person

you’re waiting for.”

“I don’t owe you anything for waiting. But I can tell you straight up.”

“We’re never getting back together. Ever.”

“Let me go, Griffin. And let yourself go, too.”

Before he could plead further, I hung up. Then I blocked that number, too.

But Griffin didn’t give up.

Five months later, he showed up in my new city halfway across the world.

Rough, unshaven, like he’d been wandering for ages.

He tried to follow me into the office building, but security chased him off like a homeless drifter

So he just crouched outside, not far from the building, staring up at it like a lost dog.

After work, I walked home like always.

Griffin didn’t approach. He just followed behind like a shadow I couldn’t shake.

The next day, a new tenant moved into the apartment next door.

I asked him what he was doing.

He stumbled over his words, finally managing, “I just want to be closer to you.”

All I felt was bitter amusement.

That kind of cheap line only works on naive little girls.

If he wanted to follow, fine. He’d regret it.
