I Dated Twin Guys As Their Online Experiment, But I Had My Own Plan Chapter 12

The situation with the twins ended in a complete fracture. It happened about two weeks after Owen and I started seeing each other. I caught the news through fragmented comments.

Vivian, riding high on her A felt so satisfied with her “research results” that she gave a department presentation titled “Manipulating Emotional Eluctuation in Romantic Relationships.”

She went on at length about the success of her controlled experiment, using the twins and me as her star

case study. She even embedded screenshots of chat logs into her PowerPoint.

Someone in the audience filmed it and posted the video to the campus forum.

Ethan saw that video while sitting in his dorm, mid-game. He set his mouse down and watched the whole

thing. His face went from shock, to anger, then just went completely blank.

“Evan. Look at this.”

Evan took the phone, watched the video, and handed it back. The twins exchanged a look. No words. Their

eyes had already reached the same conclusion.

The next day, they asked Vivian to meet them off campus. She showed up in a good mood, carrying a coffee, smiling. “You two never randomly ask to hang out. What’s up?”

Ethan shoved his phone in front of her face, the video still paused on her presentation slide. “You did a

public talk about this?”

Vivian’s smile froze, then recovered smoothly. “Oh, that? It was just an academic presentation. Why?”

“You used us and Nora as a case study and posted chat logs?” Ethan’s voice shook-not with fear, with

anger. “Did it ever occur to you to ask us?”

“I figured you wouldn’t mind.” Vivian shrugged, breezy. “Plus, I anonymized everything. I blurred all the

names and avatars,”

“This isn’t about blurring avatars.” Evan’s voice was low and heavy. “It’s about the fact that from day one, you treated us like lab rats.”

Vivian’s smile died completely. “Evan, what are you trying to say?”

“Let me ask you something.” Evan met her eyes. “From the start, when you told us to date Nora online, was it ever about the project? Or was it because you simply didn’t care who we might fall for?”

Vivian’s lips parted, but nothing came out.

“You didn’t care if we developed feelings for Nora. You didn’t care what we talked about with her. You didn’t even care if we were happy.” Evan’s voice was quiet. “You never did.”

“That’s not true

“Then tell me.” Ethan cut her off. “If our online dating target hadn’t been Nora-if it had been girl-would you have cared at all?”

Vivian went mute.

any random

“You would’ve let them ‘just pick one, right?” Ethan laughed, but the sound was hollow and bitter. “So in your eyes, I’m just a thing that can be picked?”

“That’s not what I meant.” Vivian’s voice had gone tight. “Let me explain-”

“No need.” Evan pulled out his phone and, right in front of her, deleted all her contact info. Ethan did the

same.

Vivian’s eyes reddened. “You’re cutting me off? Over something this small?”

“It’s not small,” Ethan said. “You used us as props from beginning to end.” He pocketed his phone, looking at her one last time-disappointment, exhaustion, a trace of hurt, but mostly relief. “Vivian, thanks for letting us help with your project. And thanks for making us see things clearly.”

The brothers turned and left.

Vivian stood alone in the evening breeze, her hair whipping across her face. Her coffee had long gone cold. After a while, she sank onto the curb, pulled her knees up, and pressed her face into them.
