The entire area went silent.

Lily had handled every part of the trip, and the others had never even bothered to read the full flight

confirmation.

Everyone turned toward her.

Lily answered immediately.

“Their tickets are nonstop. We’re flying to another country first and connecting there, but we’re

still ending up in Europe.”

She sounded completely certain, but she didn’t mention that their connecting airport was in an area

plagued by serious security problems.

The others immediately started making excuses for her.

“Our tour is cheap. Of course there’s a connection.”

“A few extra hours to save $600 is worth it.”

“A nonstop flight is still economy class. Sitting there that long would be exhausting. Breaking up the trip might actually be more comfortable.”

Once Lily reassured them, their concern disappeared almost instantly.

Teachers had often compared our two senior classes, so when both groups met at the airport, the hostility between them was impossible to miss.

“A $699 international trip? You might be willing to risk it, but we aren’t.”

Blair stopped arguing and pulled me away.

Noah shouted after us, “Erin, your passport is useless now. It doesn’t matter who you leave with. You’re not getting to Europe today.”

I hadn’t planned to fly anywhere in the first place, so I followed Blair without looking back.

Lily’s group soon finished checking in and went through security.

Blair lowered her voice.

“I saw their boarding passes. Their layover is in a high risk area, and they’ll be stuck there for

almost ten hours.”

“The package is probably so cheap that this was the only route the company could afford,” I said.

Even after leaving the airport, I couldn’t shake my unease.

In the end, I contacted our senior-year advisor.

“What? They went to Europe?” she said, stunned. “Lily told me they were camping outside a nearby town for two days.”

I despised what Lily and Noah had done, but I had no direct conflict with most of the other students.

I didn’t want anything to actually happen to them.

“I’ll contact their parents immediately and report this to the school. Thank you for telling me.”

Not long after the call ended, Noah received a call from his mother while he was waiting at the gate.

“The school says you’re going to Europe. You told us you were hiking nearby with your classmates Come home right now!”

Her voice was so loud that everyone around him could hear it.

Noah moved into a corner and lowered his voice.

“I didn’t tell you because I knew you’d say no. Everyone’s about to board. What will they think if I suddenly walk away now?”

“You just turned eighteen, and you’re joining some suspicious online budget tour with a group of inexperienced kids. What happens if something goes wrong? If you want to visit Europe, your father and I can take you next month.”

Traveling with his parents was clearly not the graduation trip Noah wanted.

Besides, he had already planned to confess his feelings to Lily beneath one of Europe’s most

famous observation towers.

There was no chance he would back out now.

“I’m an adult. I can make my own decisions. I’m going, so stop trying to control me.”

At that moment, the boarding announcement sounded.

Once the plane took off, it would be much harder for their parents to call them back.

The students rushed toward the gate, eager for the European vacation promised in the ad.
