Over the next few days, Mom and I stayed busy at the agency confirming airline seats, hotel reservations, insurance coverage, and activity bookings.

There were documents for more than forty travelers, and entering and double-checking all the information took us two full days.

On the third day, Blair returned with the completed forms from her entire class and paid the tour fee in full.

Their departure was scheduled for the following month, on the exact same day as Lily’s tour.

After the contract was signed, I went home and fell asleep almost immediately.

Before I knew it, departure day had arrived.

I had no other plans, so I was getting ready to go to the airport to see Blair’s class off.

The moment I opened my front door, I found several people standing outside.

“What are you doing at my house?”

Noah, Lily, and several of our former classmates were crowded on the doorstep.

They were supposed to be leaving for their trip that day.

Lily stepped forward and took my hand.

“Erin, we’re here to take you to the airport. You’re part of our class too. The graduation trip wouldn’t be complete without you.”

I yanked my hand free.

“I’ve already told you over and over. I’m not going.”

Lily stepped back, pretending I had hurt her.

“I know you’ve been blaming me because we didn’t choose your family’s agency. To make it up to you, we registered you ourselves and kept it a surprise.”

I didn’t move.

“That’s impossible. International travel requires a passport and entry documents. What did you use to register me?”

Noah answered with a smug smile.

“When we traveled together before, you gave me your passport to hold. I took a photo of the data’

page. No need to thank me. The surprise was Lily’s idea.”

My fingers tightened around the doorknob as I fought to stay calm.

They had used my passport information without my knowledge or permission.

The classmates outside kept pressuring me.

“It’s a free trip to Europe. What more do you want?”

“Lily saved a free spot for you. Stop making a scene.”

Lily might have been pretending this was an act of kindness, but I had no obligation to accept it.

“I’m not going. Leave now and you can still make it to the airport on time.”

Their expressions changed instantly.

Noah advanced toward me.

“We came all the way here to get you, and you’re still making this difficult.”

He glanced at the others.

“You’re coming with us today.”

Several of them grabbed my arms and tried to drag me out of the house.

My parents had gone to the agency early that morning, so I was alone.

I fought against them while desperately searching for a safe way out.

“Let go of me! Fine, I’ll go. Just let me get my passport first!”

Their grip finally loosened.

Noah stared at me suspiciously.

“What are you planning now?”

“With all of you watching me, what could I possibly do? I can’t even check in without my passport.”

He followed me into the house and never took his eyes off me.

I retrieved my passport and left for the airport with them.

During the ride, I slipped my hand into the coat pocket where I’d put my passport.

There was only one safe way to stop them from forcing me onto that plane.

The airport was packed with summer travelers and recent graduates.

“Finally, Erin. The whole class has been waiting for you.”

The moment my classmates saw us, they hurried over.

I forced a smile while scanning the terminal for any chance to escape.

“Let’s go to the counter. Boarding starts soon.”

The group moved toward the check-in area.

When it was my turn, the airline agent examined my documents, then handed my passport back.

“I’m sorry, but this passport has been damaged. We can’t check you in.”
