He was screaming, unhinged.

His men stood there soaking wet, heads bowed, no one answering.

Those two bodies had only stayed intact because Gavin had spent a fortune preserving them-all so Samantha could have peace of mind.

After Rebecca took them, decomposition had already set in. An hour in the ocean had left them

bloated and swollen.

“Hurry-get them back to cold storage! Get the whole tech team down there!”

“The bodies can’t be damaged. If Samantha comes back and they’re not-

Gavin was spiraling. That single thought was the only thing holding him together.

As long as the bodies were still in his possession, Samantha would come back.

The yacht party was over. Done.

Within a day, every Family in the city knew what had happened.

Rebecca watched Gavin obsess over Samantha and seethed.

She wanted Samantha dead at the bottom of the ocean. Gone for good.

“Gavin, I’ve already sent more people out to search.”

“It’s windy out here. Let’s go inside. You don’t need to worry so much.”

She leaned against his chest, arms wrapped around his waist, her voice soft and soothing.

“Even if she doesn’t come back, you still have me.”

The words sent a visible shudder through Gavin’s body. He shoved her away.

“Samantha is not dead.”

“I’ve done everything you asked. We’re finished.”

Rebecca’s composure shattered.

She tried to force a smile, but jealousy and rage were eating her alive.

She dug her nails into his wrist.

“How is that fair? Going abroad was my family’s decision. Breaking up with you wasn’t my choice.”

“You promised me. Three years, and you’d come back.”

“Fine–I was wrong. I shouldn’t have stayed away so long. Can’t you forgive me just this once?”

Gavin lowered his head, remembering that day.

Rebecca had broken up with him, and he’d lost his mind. He’d floored it down the rain-soaked

highway, weaving through traffic at insane speeds.

He was desperate to get her back.

And because of that, he’d killed Samantha’s parents. If it weren’t for sheer luck, Samantha would

have died in that wreck too.

When he didn’t respond, Rebecca dropped to her knees and swore to him.

“Gavin, give me one more chance. Even if it’s just as friends.”

“Just don’t send me away. I’ll take anything.”

Faced with the woman he’d once loved begging at his feet, Gavin went quiet.

He couldn’t deny it-he’d never fully let go of Rebecca. She was the woman he’d loved for years. You couldn’t just flip a switch on something like that.

Everyone said Rebecca was his Rebecca. They’d broken up and gotten back together so many times. Said the cruelest things to each other, but neither could truly walk away.

But over time, Samantha’s unconditional love and his own crushing guilt had made it impossible

for him to leave her.

“Rebecca, I can overlook everything you’ve done to her.”

“But you and me-we’re done.”
