No Longer His Donna Chapter 11

No Longer His Donna Chapter 11

He had a smudge of dirt on his face. I smiled and wiped it off for him.

“You’ve turned into a little mess.”

The second I finished speaking, Xander suddenly stepped out from a nearby tent, his face etched with agony.

“Tina… you used to love me so much.”

Damian recognized him and pulled me into his side.

“Don Xander, Tina is my wife now.”

“You don’t deserve her!” Xander snarled.

“Tina is mine. She’s loved me since she was a teenager. We promised to marry each other.”

“Did you marry her?” Damian’s question plunged him into silence.

Damian continued, “Actually, you’re the one who doesn’t deserve Tina. You couldn’t even be sure of your own

heart. That makes you scum.”

“Tina doesn’t belong to you anymore.”

I looked at Xander and smiled. “Xander, go home. It’s over between us.”

“No, wait. We never really began, so there’s nothing to end.”

“Let’s just say, stop pursuing me. I don’t like you. The only person I like is Damian.”

I liked Xander for ten years. If I hadn’t left to become a Doctors Without Borders doctor, I probably would

have remained a fool for love my entire life.

I’m grateful I persevered back then. And, in a strange way, I’m grateful he deceived me.

Three years later, Damian and I left the organization.

In those three years, we saved countless lives.

We both sustained countless injuries.

Once, an explosion went off right beside him, and he almost lost his life.

In that moment, I swore an oath, Wait three years. If we’re both still alive in three years, we’ll leave.

Life is long. He and I deserved a life of our own life, too.

We moved to Seattle and settled down, then got officially married.

From time to time, I scroll through my old Instagram. There’s our first photo together, and pictures from our

simple wedding in that war-torn town.

I will always remember those beautiful memories.

Xander’s POV

On my way out of that town, I came across a little girl.

She was playing with a stone in her hands, one engraved with [Safe & Sound.]

I was shocked. I had secretly seen this very stone in Tina’s luggage before.

The day I slapped her, after she’d gone to the hospital, I sent my man to her hotel room. He found it there.

I asked the girl how she got the stone.

She said, “A doctor sister gave it to me. She said she wished for me to be safe and sound.”

“Did she say where it came from?”

“She did. She said a little boy gave it to her. She originally wanted to give it to someone she liked, but his

heart had changed.”

The words felt like a knife diving into my heart.

So, back then… Tina had still wanted to be with me.

And what was I doing then?

I remember now.

I was flirting with Stephanie. Sleeping with her. We had a child together. I told her I loved her.

The day Stephanie left, she left me a note.

It only had one sentence,

[Xander, you’re scum. You lost a truly good woman. And I don’t mean me. I mean Tina. She loved you so much, was so good to you, and you betrayed her.]

Thinking of that, I broke down crying.
