My Deskmate A Movie King Faked Cancer For Cash Chapter 22

Before the bell tolled for me, I didn’t believe in fate either.

But I did now.

When I was eight, my father was crushed by steel beams at a construction site. My mother dragged me to a chapel to pray all night.

He never woke up.

When I was eighteen, my mother caught a severe respiratory infection. I knelt and prayed on the stone steps for her, too.

She died anyway.

Maybe some lives are just mapped out from the start.

The poor stay broken, and lovers never get their happy ending.

The day after we returned from the chapel, I started coughing up blood.

Julian rushed me to the hospital in the middle of the night, where his mother personally arranged my private room.

I lay in the sterile bed, watching his straight, tense back as he made phone calls out in the hallway.

He came back in with a forced smile. “A specialist is coming to see you tomorrow. Just rest.”

I gestured for him to come closer. He sat down, and I touched his face. He had lost so much weight.

“Julian, my book… I haven’t finished the ending.”

—

“Don’t worry about it. Write it when you’re better.”

I didn’t answer.
