My Deskmate A Movie King Faked Cancer For Cash Chapter 13

Once we made it official, Julian’s neediness exceeded anything I could have imagined.

I hid all my prescription bottles, keeping them tucked away inside my everyday purse.

Being with him felt so surreal that he would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night just to pinch my cheek.

I would laugh, swatting his hand away. *Julian, stop. You’re going to drive me crazy!*

He would sheepishly withdraw his hand, only to pull me right back into a suffocating embrace.

“Hazel, let’s get married. Let’s plan the wedding right now!”

“I want to give you the most beautiful day of your life.”

I went quiet for a moment, forcing a tight smile onto my face.

“Sure. Let’s wait until I finish my novel.”

“When’s the ending coming?” he asked.

“Soon.”

But I had no idea how to write the ending.

I didn’t know what kind of future to give the character based on him.

Because I couldn’t even see my own.

Later that night, after he fell asleep, I slipped out of bed and threw up in the bathroom.

When I crawled back into bed, he stirred, murmuring something incoherent in his sleep.

I lay down beside him, and he instinctively reached out, pulling me close and resting his chin on my head. “Hazel… don’t leave…”

I lay perfectly still, staring at the dark ceiling until the sun came up.
