My Deskmate A Movie King Faked Cancer For Cash Chapter 03

I never expected to run into Julian at the hospital.

I was there for a routine scan, having just stepped out of my oncologist’s office.

Right at the corner of the hallway, I almost collided with a guy wearing a black face mask and a low-profile baseball cap.

I stepped aside and mumbled a quick apology.

As we brushed past each other, a familiar voice drifted down from above:

“Hey, partner. What a coincidence.”

My blood went cold.

Slowly, I looked up and met a pair of smiling eyes.

“How… why are you…”

“You didn’t reply to my texts, so I didn’t expect to find you here.” He waved his phone. “Talk about luck, right?”

I quickly unlocked my phone. Julian was pinned at the top of my messages, with three unread texts:

[I’m upstate this month for a shoot.]

[Want to catch up?]

[You there?]

I rarely got messages, and I always kept my phone on silent at the hospital. I hadn’t noticed at all.

“I didn’t mean to ignore you…”

My voice trailed off as a sudden realization hit me.

“You’re shooting here?”

The lines around Julian’s eyes crinkled further behind his mask:

“Just wrapping up a promotional video for the hospital. What about you—”

He paused, his gaze subtly dropping to the medical folder clutched in my hand.

“Are you sick?”

I shook my head, keeping my voice level:

“A friend of mine is. I was just visiting her.”

He seemed to let out a breath.

“Perfect timing then. Want to grab lunch? I’m free for the rest of the afternoon.”

I tightened my grip on the folder, hiding it behind my back.

“Sure.”
