I threw my elbow back and nailed him in the gut, then yanked myself away.

Parker Jennings doubled over, clutching his stomach.

I gave him a slow once-over.

He had that golden-boy look-the kind of fresh-faced charm that could still pass for a college student even

now.

He stepped closer, grinning.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you. Sweetheart, it’s me-Parker.”

He tried to hug me again. I shoved him off with a cold glare.

“Back off. I don’t know you. Touch me again and I’m calling the cops.”

My cold rejection threw him off.

He pulled out his phone, eyes darting between the screen and my face.

“That’s definitely my sweetheart.”

“You’re playing a new game with me, right?”

I pulled out my phone and started dialing 911.

Only then did he realize I was serious.

He grabbed my phone and hung up.

I stared at the screen he held up, frowning.

“Lately, there have been all these strangers showing me my own photo and claiming I’m their online

girlfriend.”

“I don’t do online dating.”

Parker dialed a voice call right in front of me.

The other end picked up quickly.

He spoke into the phone, but his eyes never left me.

“Sweetheart, you go to Ashford, right? I’m passing through campus today. Come out-I have a gift for you.”

I crossed my arms.

I already knew Rachel would turn him down.

And sure enough, he hung up within two minutes, his expression sour.

His gaze stayed locked on me.

He gave a light laugh.

“Guess I got it wrong.”

“You’re a student ambassador-could you show me to the lounge?”

Along the way, he grilled me like I was applying for a security clearance, down to my grandmother’s birth

year.

Eventually, he circled back to the earlier topic.

“So you’re saying more than one person has used your photo for online dating?”

I’d already corrected him so many times-we weren’t close, and he didn’t need to call me “sweetheart.”

He’d nod along and then ignore it the next time.

“Yeah, about a month ago, some guy ran up and called me ‘baby.’ Scared the hell out of me.”

“My photos are probably being stolen. So if your online girlfriend sent you my pictures, you’ve been

catfished.”

Parker just smiled, unbothered.

“Can you blame me? Your photos are gorgeous-I fell for them the moment I saw them.”

He leaned in close, his breath warm against my ear.

“But you’re even prettier in person.”

Internally, I was rolling my eyes so hard.

This guy was such a flirt.

But on the outside, I let myself blush and looked down.

When I looked up again, I spotted Rachel and Lily walking toward us.

Lily was staring right at Parker.

She came over casually.

“Sophie, fancy meeting you here. Who’s your friend?”
