I Lost 90 Pounds, Only To Find He Tried To Give Me Away Chapter 06

Definitely Not A Fuckboy was just like he was online. Ridiculously good-looking, but without a shred of ego

about it.

He was thoughtful the whole time, quietly taking care of everything without being asked.

I finally learned his real name. Theo Calder. He was a freshman too. Different major, same campus.

He’d picked a nice restaurant. He pulled out my chair and insisted on paying the bill before I could even reach

for my card, all while blushing so hard he couldn’t look me in the eye.

We spent the whole afternoon together. When he finally dropped me off at the restaurant for the freshman get-together, his last message read like he didn’t want to let me go.

[Text me when it’s over. I’ll come get you.]

The restaurant was packed. I could hear voices through the door of the back room before I even reached it.

“Is everyone here?”

“Not yet. Tessa’s not here.”

“Tessa? The whale that catfished Nolan?” Laughter. “She probably doesn’t have the guts to show up.”

“Right? She’d take one look at Sienna and crawl under the table. Girls like that can only get attention behind a

screen. Nobody wants that in person.”

Sienna laughed too, leaning into Nolan’s side.

“Don’t be mean, you guys. It’s not her fault she’s ugly.”

I was about to walk in when a plus-size girl stepped through the door ahead of me.

The room went quiet for a beat, then everyone started trading looks.

“This must be Tessa. Wow, making everyone wait for her. Bold.”

“She’s exactly how Nolan described her.” More laughter.

“Come on, sit down. Think one chair’s gonna be enough, or should we pull over two?”

The whole room cracked up.

Nolan had his arm around Sienna, smirking.

The girl blinked at them, confused, then started clearing empty glasses onto a tray.

Every smile in the room died at the same time.

I pushed the door open and walked in.

The room went still.

Every pair of eyes in the room landed on me.

A guy with a buzz cut froze with his drink halfway to his mouth. It dripped onto his lap before he noticed, and

he scrambled to blot his pants.

The girl across from me, the one who’d been laughing loudest, sat there with her mouth hanging open.

Sienna had been leaning lazily against Nolan. The second she saw me, she sat up straight. The smirk

vanished. Her hand went to her hair.

Nolan just stared.

“Holy shit…” someone whispered.

One of the guys recovered first.

“Hey, I think you might have the wrong room? This is a freshman thing.”

The buzz-cut guy, the same one who’d been the cruelest a minute ago, jumped in. “Who cares if it’s the wrong

room? You can sit with me.”

I smiled.

“Hi, everyone. I’m Tessa.”

The room erupted.

Buzz-cut gaped at me.

“You’re… Tessa? That’s not… there’s no way, right?!”

“Didn’t Nolan say you were…”

I kept my smile perfectly in place. “What did he say about me?”

My eyes found Nolan. He looked like he forgot how to breathe.

He was about what I’d expected.

He was good-looking, I’d give him that. Not pretty. Handsome.

Bleached-blond hair, artfully tousled. And those eyes. Bedroom eyes that could make anyone feel like the

only person in the room.

A textbook fuckboy.

“Who’s Nolan?” I kept my voice light. “I don’t think I know anyone by that name.”

Nolan went rigid. His throat bobbed.

Without thinking, he pulled his arm off Sienna’s shoulder.

Sienna bit her lip. Her expression went tight.

I almost wanted to laugh.

I’d seen that look in Nolan’s eyes before.

Over the past few months, I’d seen it on more faces than I could count.

Amazement.

But on Nolan’s face, there was something else underneath it.

“Tessa…?” His voice came out rough.
