He Asked Me to Pick a Bridesmaid Dress for Their Wedding Chapter 04

For a second I was weightless. I saw Ethan’s face. Horror. Real horror. I smiled and let myself imagine it. If I splattered on the pavement, would he regret it? Would he and Sierra lie awake every night, haunted?

But a third-floor window doesn’t kill you. I shattered ribs and punctured a lung. Pain so deep I couldn’t die and couldn’t live. After surgery, Ethan sat beside me. “Was that really necessary?”

“Holly. The baby was already gone. And you threw yourself out a window for what? To make a scene?” His voice was all annoyance and exhaustion. Like I was a burden he’d never shake.

I laughed and it hurt. “Making a scene won’t fix anything. You’re a monster, Ethan. You killed our baby.”

His patience evaporated. Nothing left but cold. “Blame yourself. You didn’t respect yourself. Someone forced you? You still spread your legs.” One sentence erased everything and carved me open. I was so tired.

“Let’s end this. You and Sierra can have each other.” He stared at me. Silent. Stunned. I didn’t look at him. I called Sierra and she came fast. “Ethan. Wait outside. Let me talk to Holly.” He looked at me, said nothing, and left.

Just the two of us. I looked at her, voice thin. “You happy now? You ruined me. Back then. And now.”

She smiled with tears in her eyes. “I didn’t want to do it. But giving you to my brother was the only way I survived.”

I closed my eyes. My heart was too tired to hurt. She kept talking. “Holly, I’ve always felt guilty. That’s why I won’t take Ethan from you. Not really. I’m just having fun. When I’m done, I’ll give him back.”

Years of hate ignited. I smiled. No hesitation this time. I dragged my broken body forward and drove a blade into her stomach. She screamed. Ethan burst through the door and Sierra was already unconscious. His face went white and he kicked me away.

“Holly! You’re trying to kill her! Are you insane?”

I wiped blood off my face. Calm. “She owed me.” His eyes were dark and furious. He lifted Sierra, blood everywhere. “This isn’t over.”

I slapped the signed divorce papers against his chest. “We’re done. All of us.”

He stared at my signature and his hands trembled. “Holly. You mean this?”

Sierra groaned in his arms. “The baby, is the baby okay?” His panic returned and he sucked in a breath. “We’ll talk when I get back.”

He didn’t stay. I smiled through the ache. There wouldn’t be a next time. I dried my eyes and headed for the airport. But the second I stepped out, I saw someone. My body locked. I couldn’t move.

Sierra lost the baby. Ethan couldn’t focus and kept thinking about the divorce papers. When Sierra finally woke, he couldn’t shake the dread. He turned and ran to find me. He threw open my door. What he saw destroyed him.
