They Sacrificed My Marriage to Save My Brother Chapter 08 My Life Has Improved

Kael’s face turned purple with rage. He lifted his hand to strike me, but I seized his wrist mid- swing.

“Once, we were father and son. If you’d hit me and I’d fought back, people would have gossiped. But things are different now. We’re no longer family. Do you truly think you can still lay a hand on me? Don’t delude yourself.”

I squeezed slightly, and Kael winced sharply in pain.

“Rainer! We put you through university, through your PhD! So what if your parents made a few mistakes? You’re still alive, aren’t you?”

Serenah broke into her usual tearful performance.

I frowned with disgust. “I repaid every ounce of that kindness long ago. This family’s reputation rested entirely on my shoulders. I single-handedly kept the business afloat. Yet you were willing to sacrifice my life for a son who’d only just returned. And now you dare speak of conscience? It’s utterly ridiculous.”

I handed the divorce papers to Nyx. “Sign it. Let’s go our separate ways.”

Nyx hung her head, motionless.

I took a slow breath. “Three seconds. If you refuse, my lawyers will handle this officially.”

She slowly picked up the pen, the tip scratching faintly across the page.

Everything between us was finally over.

I would not make this harder for her. It was the least I owed our nine years of memories.

“What do I have to do for you to spare Todd?” She handed the signed papers back to me, her voice hoarse and gritty.

I took them and replied calmly, “Nothing can spare him. And tell your best friend-she’ll receive a lawyer’s letter tomorrow.”

I turned and walked away without a single glance back.

The tattered remaining banners at the gate fluttered uselessly in the wind.

“Congratulations! Hatred value fully cleared! Revenge progress: 100%. Special bonus reward unlocked.”

I thought for a moment and chose to take full ownership of the Foote family business.

After all, it had always been my life’s work.

In the years that followed, I devoted myself to charitable causes. The dark cloud that had hung over me for so long slowly lifted.

When the full truth came to light, no one ever dared look down on Rainer Foote again.

Three years later, I was walking with Stella Wilson outside a bespoke suit shop when we ran into my former family, begging on the street.

The moment they saw me, they lunged forward like starved wolves.

“Rainer! You can’t do this to us!”

“You’ll pay for this!”

I stepped firmly in front of Stella, my tone cold and unyielding. “Only the wicked reap retribution. Just like you.”

I pulled out the loose change I’d gotten from the café earlier and tossed it into their begging bowl.

They wailed hysterically. Only Nyx kept her head bowed, utterly silent.

“Rainer, do you know these people?” Stella tugged gently at my sleeve, whispering.

I nodded faintly, then shook my head. “Just wolves and jackals from my past.”

She smiled softly and linked her arm through mine.

I led her into the suit shop.

She picked out a sleek black suit, one that fit me better than any I’d ever worn. “Wear this on our wedding day.”

I’d met Stella a year prior through my charity work. Back then, she’d been a village teacher, pure-hearted and endlessly kind. I’d been drawn to her warmth from the very start, and my feelings never wavered.

I’d pursued her for a long time, but she’d always turned me down, refusing to leave her students behind.

I understood completely. So I spent half a year building a brand-new school for the village and

hiring qualified professional teachers to take over.

Only then did she agree to leave the mountains with me.

Three days later, we got married.

Our wedding was simple and humble-no gilded halls, no extravagant mountains of flowers.

Just two rings, two sincere hearts, and a small circle of friends who genuinely wished us well.

Warm sunlight streamed through the windows, spilling bright color over our new life together.

The painful past was finally buried. Ahead of us lay a bright, promising future.
