Rejected Three Years Ago, I Came Back as Luna Queen Chapter 08

Emily’s eyes welled with tears.

“Brandon, you don’t agree?”

Looking at his wife standing right beside him, his composure returned. He reached out, gently stroking her

cheek.

“Of course not. It’s just that Olivia is your sister after all. As an Alpha, I have to look out for her. We can’t be too reckless with such a big decision.”

Emily leaned her face into his palm.

“Arranged dates are naturally different from falling in love freely like us. They have time, and since they’re aiming to sign a mate contract, rushing to build feelings is the right thing to do.”

His face stiffened slightly, but he still forced a smile.

“You’re right.”

Vincent’s gaze lingered for a split second on the moonstone bracelet around Emily’s wrist.

Cutting through their display of affection, he spoke up.

“Whitemoon Pack has shown its sincerity. I wonder what the Voss family has prepared?”

The earlier excitement instantly chilled.

I could tell in a heartbeat that they hadn’t prepared a single thing for my dowry.

After all, every good thing in this family went to my sister, Emily.

My father put on a dignified front, puffing out his chest.

“When we marry off our daughter, it’s not a business transaction. Strong feelings between the couple are

what matter most.”

Translation: they weren’t planning on giving a single cent.

My heart sank a little.

Luckily, Vincent wasn’t looking for money anyway.

“I heard the Voss family’s old Luna left Olivia a moonstone bracelet before she passed away. It matches the

emerald necklace my mother sent perfectly. On the day of the mating ceremony, Olivia can wear it

That moonstone bracelet was no ordinary piece of jewelry.

It was an heirloom left to me by my grandmother as the former Luna of the Voss family-her final act of

standing up for me.

I turned my head sharply, staring at his calm, unbothered face.

He had gone through all these hoops just to help me get that moonstone bracelet back.

That bracelet had only been on my wrist for half a day before my grandmother passed away. Before she was even in the ground, Emily had snatched it from me.

She had said, “Mom and Dad love me, Grandpa loves me, and Grandma loved me too. Why would she give

the moonstone bracelet to you?”

Grandma did love her, but she felt sorry for me.

She was the only person in this family who ever noticed my quiet grievances.

That day, for the first time, I ignored my parents’ endless lectures about looking after my sister and fought back like crazy. She fell to the ground, and my father slapped me so hard across the face that my mouth

filled with blood.

He said Grandma’s things were all the same no matter who got them, and that I was simply unpresentable.

If it was all the same…

Why couldn’t it be on my wrist?

Emily pulled her hand under the table immediately, only to be hit with a warning glare from my mother.

Reluctantly, she pulled it out and took it off.

“Here, take it. It’s just a stupid moonstone bracelet. Is the Whitemoon Pack really that broke?”

Vincent picked up a napkin, wrapped it around the moonstone bracelet, and carefully wiped it clean, inch by

inch.

Emily’s face turned even darker.

“We can afford it. But this is Olivia’s heirloom from the old Luna. As her suitor, it is my duty to retrieve it for

her.”

Red-eyed, Emily turned and ran out of the room.

Brandon hesitated for a second before standing up to follow her.

I walked Vincent to the door. Halfway out, he suddenly stopped, turned around, and marched right back to

“So… are we seeing each other tomorrow?”

I smiled.

“Yes. In fact, tonight. Help me move.”

He left with a bright, satisfied smile.

I went back up to my room. Just as I reached for the door handle, a strong grip clamped around my wrist. A sudden pull sent the world spinning, and the door slammed shut with a heavy bang.

My back slammed into the wood, sending a surge of sharp pain through me.

A towering shadow pressed over me. I turned my head away as his warm breath brushed against my neck,

feeling utterly repulsive.

“Alpha Vale.”

“Call me Brandon.”

His lips pressed down, a slick, cool sensation creeping up my throat. I shoved him off with all my strength,

pointing toward the door.

“Get out.”

He stumbled back half a step, wiped the dampness from the corner of his mouth, and pressed forward again,

his eyes locking onto mine.

“Olivia Voss, you don’t love him.”

I had no idea what kind of madness had taken over him.

“Arranged marriages build feelings from scratch anyway. Worst case, we sign the mate contract first and fall

in love later.”

My words carried an intentional edge to provoke him.

Clearly, it worked.

He closed the distance step by step, resting one hand against the door beside my ear, leaning down slowly.

“Olivia Voss, don’t make a joke out of your marriage just to punish me.”

I raised my chin, my lips barely a centimeter from his, staring straight into his eyes.

“How do you know I won’t fall in love with him?”

“I’ve seen the way you loved me. Whether you love him or not, I can tell in a single glance.

He leaned in inch by inch. Suddenly, I laughed.

“What’s so funny?”

I looked at his lips.

“So? What if I say I don’t love him? What if I say… it’s you I love? What are you going to do about it?”

His warm breath flickered between my lips, half a centimeter away.
