Rejected Three Years Ago, I Came Back as Luna Queen Chapter 05

I got into my car and drove straight to an old Pack healer’s clinic.

He opened the door and paused in surprise when he saw me.

“Olivia?”

I nodded politely. “Hi, Healer Edward. I got back last night.”

With red-rimmed eyes, the old man patted my shoulder and stepped aside. “Come in, sit down. Have you eaten? Mrs. Edward made porridge. Want some?”

I accepted with a smile and ate half a bowl.

Healer Edward used to treat Emily’s health issues.

Back then, I was the one who always picked up her medicine. Over time, he learned about my status at home and often kept me for lunch.

Later, Emily complained the herbal tonic was too bitter, so my parents switched to Western medicine. But I kept the habit of visiting him.

Two years ago, when I learned about Brandon’s stomach issues, I asked Healer Edward for a special remedy recipe.

I brewed that tonic for Brandon for three years, and his health improved significantly until the supply stopped.

“Ever since you left, no one has come for that medicine,” the old man grumbled, angrier than my own family. “Serves that bastard right.”

My eyes welled up.

He finally remembered to ask, “Child, you didn’t come all this way just to see an old man, did you?”

I rubbed my neck awkwardly. “Actually, Healer Edward… I need another batch of that stomach tonic.”

Bang!

He slammed his bowl onto the table.

Mrs. Edward gasped and smacked his arm. “Old man, quiet down! You’re scaring the girl!”

He snorted. “Let her be scared! That ungrateful brat signed a mate contract with her sister, and she’s still running errands for his medicine!”

I touched my nose guiltily.

I used to cling to Brandon like a lifeline, crying myself breathless whenever he got sick. It made sense Healer Edward assumed the worst.

“It’s not for him.”

Healer Edward was still fuming, but his ears perked up at my words. He tried to hide his curiosity, making me laugh.

“It’s for Vincent.”

His eyes lit up, and he clapped his hands in delight. “Child, are you and that Vincent boy…”

My cheeks warmed. “Not yet. Our families just arranged a blind date.”

He slapped the table and stood straight up. “Forget the date, lock it in! I knew that boy was good news!”

I stared at him, confused. “Back then?”

Back then, hadn’t Vincent treated everyone with cold indifference?

Healer Edward put on a knowing look. “Back when you were with Brandon, Vincent kept showing up here bruised and battered to buy tonic.”

My confusion deepened. “What does that have to do with me?”

“Hmph!” The old man huffed. “Everything! He challenged Brandon to ball games every day just to beat him up and teach him to treat you better and stay away from your sister.”

“He knew you’d worry about Brandon, so he only targeted spots that wouldn’t show, while letting his own face and arms get bruised up. But he wasted his efforts on a blind girl. You didn’t even notice him.”

I was rendered speechless.

I remembered those games.

I had always thought it was just boys being competitive.

I never imagined the stoic Vincent had fought Brandon so many times for my sake.

No wonder Brandon stayed in bed for days after those games, avoiding me while claiming Vincent was a sore loser who fought like a thug.

Because of that, I had always kept my distance whenever I saw Vincent covered in bruises.

I stood there, completely silent.

Healer Edward sighed softly, walked into the back room, and returned with a package of herbs.

“This tonic should have gone to someone else a long time ago.”

Knowing I had a date at noon, Healer Edward practically pushed me out the door.

I carried the herbs back home, my mind a complete blur.

When I arrived, my mother was taking a nap, and my father and Brandon had already left for work.

Emily was sitting on the sofa, clearly waiting for me.

Her face twisted the moment she saw the medicine in my hand, and she lunged forward to snatch it.

Knowing her tricks all too well, I stepped back to avoid her.

“This isn’t for Brandon,” I said before she could speak.

She glared at me. “You wouldn’t dare.”

She leaned back against the sofa, her eyes cold with warning. “Stay away from Alpha Brandon. Unless you want everyone to know you’re shameless enough to crave your own brother-in-law.”
