I Was Just A Passerby Carrying His Twin Heirs Chapter 05

Grant Vance said nothing.

Logan White said nothing.

Silence stretch endlessly.

Finally, Grant broke it.

“What… procedure are you talking about?”

“An abortion,” I replied.

Logan choked on his own spit.

Grant narrowed his eyes, his expression completely unreadable.

He stayed quiet for way too long, and I was losing my patience.

“Look, Mr. Vance, twenty-eight hundred dollars is pocket change for you. It’s just a signature on a check. If you really think fifty-fifty isn’t fair, we can do sixty-forty with me paying the bigger share. I’m the one undergoing the procedure, after all. But you walking away without paying a cent? That’s just unfair.”

I was being utterly sincere.

I was being entirely reasonable.

Grant stared at me for a long moment.

Then, he slowly turned to look at Logan.

That look clearly translated to: Is she out of her mind?

Logan’s helpless glance back translated to: Sir, I have no idea.

I stood there, calm and collected.

Paying back what you owe is just common sense.

Didn’t I look like a totally righteous debt collector?

Right then, a floating line of glowing text drifted past Grant’s head.

Holy shit, does she really not know Grant Vance is the sole heir to the Vance military lineage, or is she just acting dumb? She literally only wants twenty-eight hundred? Girl, that’s the entire Vance family bloodline in

your stomach!!

I ignored it with a blank face.

So what if I knew?

What did that have to do with me?

I just wanted my twenty-eight hundred dollars.

Grant didn’t wire me the money on the spot.

He only said one thing.

“I need to verify this first.”

“Fine by me,” I said. “Just don’t take too long. My appointment is next week.”

When Logan escorted me out, he looked like he was floating on air.

By the elevators, he finally couldn’t help himself and whispered urgently.

“Um… Miss Miller, do you really… only want twenty-eight hundred dollars?”

I looked at him.

“What else would I want?”

He hesitated, looking conflicted.

“I mean, if you think he should cover the whole thing, I can accept that too.”

Logan nearly missed his footing.

He waved his hands frantically. “No, no, that’s not what I meant…”

The elevator doors slid open, and I stepped inside.

I turned around and gave him a polite nod.

“Logan, please speed it up. My appointment is next Wednesday.”

The elevator doors closed.

I left Logan standing alone in the hallway, looking like he’d just been struck by lightning.
