Lost My Love to His Best Friend Chapter 07

Lost My Love to His Best Friend Chapter 07

I laced my fingers through Hawton’s and turned to leave.

Kieran bolted forward and locked me in a tight hold from behind.

“Wren, please. I know I messed up, just give me one more chance…”

His hot tears splashed onto my neck.

His desperate begging hit my ears, but I felt absolutely nothing. I was even annoyed by his act.

Hawton snapped to action and threw a hard punch straight at him.

Kieran stumbled backward and crashed to the ground.

“Stay hands off my wife, you hear me?”

Hawton loomed over him and tossed out the cold warning, then tugged my hand to walk away.

Muffled sobs trailed after us.

I kept walking, never glancing back.

I thought that’d be the end of it.

But a week later, everything went south out of the blue.

Riley posted that hospital clip online to paint me as the homewrecker, and then she dropped a whole separate taped video too.

In the footage, she’d dumped her usual loud, unfiltered persona—she wore a soft white dress with her hair loose over her shoulders.

Her eyes all swollen and bloodshot, she sobbed through her rant, saying I’d crashed her thing with Kieran and put her in the hospital after she almost lost the baby.

“I never wanted to hurt anyone. I only posted this to get justice.”

Then she lowered her head and stroked her stomach, her tears dripping nonstop.

“Wren, this baby can’t grow up without a dad. Give Kieran back to me, I’m begging you.”

She even tagged my account on purpose.

I stared at the video, totally stunned.

I never imagined the girl who acted like one of the guys, rough and unapologetic around men, could pull off weak, innocent damsel energy so smoothly.

I had to hand it to her—Riley was insanely cunning.

She knew exactly how to play every crowd.

Around Kieran and his crew, she leaned into that carefree, no-drama vibe to fit right in.

And she knew netizens always side with the supposed victim, so she cranked up the pitiful act for the camera.

Sure enough, the clip blew up the second it went live.

Hundreds of commenters flooded my profile spamming hate.

Commenter 1: [Homewrecker rot!]

Commenter 2: [You stole her man and almost killed her baby—have you no shame?]

Someone dug up my full name, traced it back to my workplace, and blew up my company’s socials demanding I get fired.

My supervisor pulled me aside for a talk soon after. I pulled out years of couple photos and chat logs to lay out the whole story.

He patted my shoulder sympathetically.

“The company’s giving you a few days off. Sort this mess out before you come back.”

I thanked him and headed straight home.

My phone wouldn’t stop buzzing—vicious DMs rolled in nonstop, and random numbers blew up my line.

I accidentally hit accept on one call, only to get screamed at with vile garbage the second I picked up.

Hawton reached for my phone ready to tear into the caller.

I hung up fast before he could start a fight.

“It’s fine. This’ll die down in a couple days.”

Hawton’s eyes burned red, his chest tight with hurt.

“If I’d known Kieran would drag you through this hell, I never would’ve stepped away back then.”

My heart softened, and I stepped forward to give him a hug.

“Don’t worry. I’ve got this handled.”

That night, I uploaded all the proof I’d sorted out online.

Our years of chat logs, timestamped couple photos, and an old clip of him confessing his love eight years prior.

He’d hired someone to film it back then to keep as a memory. He’d said it was one of the best moments of his life, worth capturing forever.

I bet he never dreamed that footage would end up clearing my name.

It didn’t take too long for public opinion to flip completely.
