I Let Him Marry Me So I Could Expose Him At The Wedding Chapter 04

After my conversation with Miles ended, a dull ache throbbed through my chest in waves.

I could not sleep.

I tossed and turned until almost five in the morning before finally drifting off for a little while.

When I opened my eyes again, the sky was already bright.

I washed up quickly and went downstairs.

Before I had even stepped off the last few stairs, I saw Miles and Serena walking out of the kitchen together.

One in front, one behind.

They were laughing and talking, their bodies far too close.

When he saw me, Miles froze for the briefest moment.

Serena’s smile, however, did not fade at all. She even reached out and lightly nudged his back.

“Hurry up,” she said playfully. “Don’t make Elena wait. We already ate, but she hasn’t had breakfast yet.”

Her voice was soft and drawn out, carrying an obvious hint of flirtation.

Afraid I would notice, Miles quickly carried the plate to the dining table and pulled me over.

“Eat,” he said. “I made it just the way you like it.”

He pulled out the chair for me himself, set out a plate and spoon, and poured coffee before sitting across from me.

The smile disappeared from Serena’s face.

She slowly sat down beside Miles, her body angled toward him, but her eyes were on me.

“Funny thing,” she said meaningfully.

“I got hungry around three in the morning and noticed the light was still on in Miles’s home office, so I went in and asked if there was anything to eat.”

“Miles was so sweet. The second he heard I was hungry, he went straight to the kitchen and made me a bowl of noodles himself. I don’t eat much, so I left a lot of it. In the end, Miles finished every bite using my utensils.”

If I had not already discovered what was going on between Miles and Serena, and if I had not known exactly why she was saying all this, I might really have started to suspect something.

Miles was a serious germaphobe.

When we first started dating, I once accidentally drank from his water bottle.

Miles did not care that we were in class or that professors and classmates were all around us.

He threw the bottle I had touched straight into the trash.

My face had gone pale.

I was his girlfriend, and he still found me that disgusting?

When he returned to his seat, Miles did not explain a word.

In the end, it was his roommate who could not stand watching anymore and tried to smooth things over for him.

“Miles is just a germaphobe,” he said. “No matter who touches his things, he throws them out.”

It took me seven years to make Miles allow me close, allow my touch, allow me to drink from the same glass as him.

But how long had Serena been here?

Not even five days.

And she had already broken through every boundary I had ever earned with him.

It would have been a lie to say I was not jealous.

It would have been a lie to say I was not comparing myself to her.

But I could not reveal anything yet.

I had to endure it. I had to wait until the wedding.

Still, I was not a pushover.

If someone made me uncomfortable, I was more than willing to make them uncomfortable too.

I took a few bites of toast and eggs, sipped my coffee, then wiped my mouth and pushed the plate directly toward Miles.

“I’m full,” I said. “You can have the rest.”

Only after that did I slowly turn toward Serena, who had been secretly enjoying herself.

“Serena, what were you saying?”

I smiled apologetically. “Sorry, I was thinking about the wedding guest list and didn’t catch it.”

My innocent expression made Serena unsure whether I had caught her drift.

After all, what woman would not care after hearing something so deliberately provocative?

Serena took a sip of water to clear her throat, clearly preparing to repeat herself.

But the man beside her had already finished the rest of my breakfast in a few quick bites.

The words Serena was about to say caught in her throat.

She stared at the empty plate in disbelief and blurted out before she could stop herself.

“Didn’t you find Elena disgusting? You never used to touch anything of hers.”

Miles frowned.

As if remembering something unpleasant, he glanced at me with a hint of guilt in his eyes.

I did not look at him.

Instead, I smiled at Serena.

“Serena, are you confused?”

“Miles and I are a couple. He might be fastidious around anyone else, but he would never be that way with me.”

Serena might have been special.

But my seven years with him had not been for nothing.
