After 999 Nights, He Said We Were Never Together Chapter 12

The call disconnected.

Every guest in the ballroom turned to look, confusion written across their faces.

Richard and Grace were beside themselves, pleading with him again and again.

“The wedding has already started. Ryan, what are you doing? Sophie and her parents aren’t coming, and they

aren’t moving back to the United States. Stop making things harder for them and get inside.”

“The day they left, we called you dozens of times and asked you to come home for one last meal and a

proper goodbye. You didn’t answer once. What good does panicking now do? Finish the wedding first. In a

little while, we’ll all go to Spain, and you can explain yourself to Thomas then.”

Every word felt like hot oil poured over Ryan’s heart.

The thought that he might rarely, if ever, see Sophie again made his hands tremble.

The officiant called for him a third time.

Ryan still didn’t move toward the ballroom. Instead, he called Thomas back.

A recorded message told him the phone had been switched off.

Growing more agitated, he called Sophie.

This time, the line wasn’t off. The call simply wouldn’t go through.

She had blocked him.

A vein throbbed at his temple. He opened WhatsApp and sent message after message.

Each one failed.

The red warning icons across the screen cut through the last of his hope.

Ryan turned toward the exit, only to find Isabelle standing there in her wedding gown.

She stared at him, urgency and confusion filling her eyes.

“The officiant has called for you three times. Ryan, why aren’t you going in?”

Under her questioning, Ryan could barely form a coherent sentence.

“I… something came up. I need to handle it first. Could we postpone the wedding for a few days?”

Isabelle’s face darkened instantly.

She released the skirt she had been holding and looked at him with cold eyes.

“Postpone it for no reason? Why? Don’t you want to marry me?”

Before Ryan could answer, Richard rushed to speak.

“That’s not it, Isabelle. Ryan only just learned that Sophie’s family moved to Spain. He’s having trouble

processing it. Give him a little time. He’ll calm down soon.”

The moment Isabelle heard that, she understood exactly what Ryan wanted to deal with.

All the anger she had buried erupted at once.

She lost control and screamed,

“You want to postpone our wedding because of Sophie Whitfield? Ryan Blackwood, have you lost your mind? If you walk out of this hotel today, we’re over.”
