He Divorced Me Six Years Ago Without Me Knowing Chapter 16

Claire was crying so hard her eyes blurred with tears.

But the moment that word left her mouth, Julian cut her off. “You have no right to call me that.”

Claire froze. She lifted her head, her eyes swimming with tears. “I have no right? Then who does? Sophia?”

Her voice suddenly turned shrill. “Don’t forget, you were only married to her for two years. You and I spent six years together.”

As she spoke, she wrapped her arms around Julian’s leg as if she were clinging to her last lifeline.

“Julian, are you really going to ignore all the years we spent together?”

Julian looked down at her, but there was not the slightest ripple in his eyes.

“I’m ignoring our years together?”

He crouched down and pried her fingers off his leg one by one, his voice cold enough to cut.

“Claire, don’t take me for a fool. Back then, when we came to Riverton together, you dumped me for money and status and ran off with a trust–fund rich kid.”

“Later, when he went bankrupt and came back, you couldn’t wait to dump him, too. For the sake of what we once had, I helped you get divorced. And how did you repay me?”

He lifted Claire’s chin, forcing her to look at him, and gritted out each word. “You manipulated your way into my bed, claimed you were pregnant with my child, and forced me to divorce Sophia. The joke is, the child

wasn’t even mine.”

Claire shuddered and shook her head desperately. “No, that’s not true. I only found out after the child was born that he wasn’t yours. It was my ex–husband. After he found out I was with you, he forced himself on

me.”

She grabbed Julian’s wrist and explained frantically, “After that, he kept using the child to threaten me and make me give him money. Julian, believe me. There really is nothing between me and him anymore.”

Julian shoved her away.

“It doesn’t matter anymore. Whatever is going on with your little family of three has nothing to do with me.”

He straightened and looked down at Claire, his expression indifferent. “All I want is to get Sophia back.”

Claire stared at him for a moment, then suddenly laughed. There was a touch of madness in the sound.

“Julian, you still think you can get Sophia back?”

“You hurt her that badly. How could she possibly come back to you?”

As she spoke, she shoved the child beside her toward Julian. “But this child has called you Dad for five years. Can you really be heartless enough to abandon him?”

Julian lowered his eyes and looked at the child gazing timidly up at him. His heart felt as if it had been seized by an invisible hand, making it hard to breathe.

Once again, he thought of the child he and Sophia never got to bring into this world.

Julian thought he truly was the biggest joke alive.

He had spoiled another man’s child for five years.

Meanwhile, his own child had turned into a pool of blood without him even knowing.

Julian drew in a deep breath and forced all the emotions surging inside him back into his chest. When he lifted his eyes again, they were empty and cold.

“Julian…”

Claire still wanted to say more, but Julian did not give her the chance. He called security and had her thrown

out.

Three days later, he was also served with Sophia’s complaint.

In court, Julian admitted to every accusation without offering a single word in his own defense.

Only after the hearing ended did he stop Sophia.

In the courtroom earlier, Sophia had not looked at him closely. Now that they were standing face to face, she

realized that in just a few days, Julian looked as if he had aged ten years. There were dark shadows under his eyes, his suit hung loosely on his frame, and he looked haggard beyond recognition.

However, even though Sophia had known before the hearing that he had already posted a clarification, her expression remained cold when she saw him.

“Julian, what do you want now?” Sophia asked icily.
