He Divorced Me Six Years Ago Without Me Knowing Chapter 14

Julian’s heart gave a violent tremor at her words. Before he could feel even a flicker of hope, Sophia stepped forward and stared him down, every word stabbing into his heart like a knife.

“Don’t forget, you still haven’t cleared the filth you threw on my name. And there’s more. You accused me of kidnapping your son with Claire, had me locked up in a detention center, and paid people to rough me up. None of that has been settled yet.”

“Julian, go home and wait to be sued.”

Julian froze.

When had he ever paid anyone to hurt her?

“Sophia, explain what you mean!”

Julian shouted anxiously.

But in the moment he stood there stunned, Sophia had already gotten into the car.

The next second, the car sped into the curtain of rain.

“Sophia! Sophia!”

Julian ran after her through the rain, but he could only watch helplessly as the car disappeared farther and farther away.

He walked through the rain like a man who had lost his soul.

The spring rain was not heavy, but every drop felt bone–chilling.

He had no idea how long he had been wandering aimlessly when his phone suddenly rang with urgent insistence.

The moment he answered, Claire’s heart–wrenching sobs exploded through the receiver. “Honey, come back!

Our son was in a car accident. He’s losing a lot of blood!”

Julian’s whole body jolted, and he nearly dropped his phone into the rain.

For the moment, he could no longer think about Sophia. He quickly booked the next available flight back to

Riverton.

At one in the morning, Julian finally arrived at the hospital, travel–worn and exhausted.

He had barely pushed open the door to the hospital room when Claire rushed at him and threw herself into his arms, crying so hard she could barely breathe.

“Honey, why did it take you so long to come back? This is all because you went on that business trip. Our son kept crying for his dad, and that was why he ran out and got into a car accident,”

Claire clutched his collar and hit his chest again and again.

Julian caught her wrists, his voice hoarse. “How is our son?”

“The doctors brought in blood from the blood bank. He’s fine now”

Claire wiped her tears. “But do you know how scared I was? I waited outside the operating room all by myself. I didn’t even have anyone to lean on.”

She kept complaining, but Julian let out a long breath. His tense shoulders finally relaxed.

“You’ve had a hard time. Get some rest. I’ll take care of him.”

He gently patted the back of Claire’s hand.

But Claire was still blaming him. “Our son’s accident happened because you failed as his father. You need to make it up to him properly.”

At that, Julian’s brows drew tighter and tighter. Irritation rose in him like a tide.

Ever since their son had been born, Julian had been the one handling every headache, fever, and minor illness.

The only time he had left Claire to take care of their son on her own, something this serious had happened.

Inevitably, Julian thought of Sophia.

If their child had been born, Sophia would have taken care of the baby in every possible way.

At the thought of the child who had been aborted, Julian’s eyes darkened.

Claire did not notice anything unusual about him.

After talking until her mouth was dry, she pulled out a small mirror and checked her tear–streaked makeup. “I’m going to the restroom. Take good care of our son.”

Julian gave a low murmur of acknowledgment and sat down beside the hospital bed.

However, as he stared at the boy lying in the bed, his mind was filled with another image entirely.

If his child with Sophia had been born, who would the baby have looked like?

He was lost in thought when the door was gently pushed open. A young nurse came in carrying a tray, her voice lowered. “Sir, I’m here to change the child’s dressing.”

Julian nodded and stood to make room.

After the nurse finished changing the dressing, she noticed his haggard expression and added softly, “Don’t

worry, sir. The child is out of danger now. You’ll just need to be careful from now on. Hospitals everywhere are short on type O blood these days.”

Julian went rigid.

He snapped his head up and looked at the nurse, his voice tight. “What did you just say my child’s blood type was?”
