I Called For Help In Cold Room But My Husband Called Me A Liar Chapter 04

He lifted his chin, staring Dallas dead in the eye, voice unshakable.

“A person like that could never be a murder victim. Spit it out—what scheme did you two cook up? Did you plan to use her to get close to me again so you could run?”

I floated behind him, shaking my head desperately, letting out a silent scream that I’d never leaked anything, that I was really dead—but no one could hear a word.

I glanced around the room, at all the officers who’d once called me Ceci with warmth, their faces twisted with hatred. My chest ached so badly I could barely stand the weight of it.

Dallas stared at the raw anger in Thomas’s eyes, stunned for a heartbeat before laughing even louder.

“You hate her? Thomas, you actually hate her?”

Thomas scowled, annoyed. He yanked out his phone and brought up his recent call log.

“Dallas, you claim Cecilia’s dead, but I got a call from her just hours ago. Save your pointless lies—you’ll never escape the charges for all those murders.”

Dallas’s laughter died. He asked a sudden, sharp question.

“Is the flower shop Cecilia owned still standing?”

Thomas froze mid-motion.

“Beneath the rose bush out front, there’s something you’ll want to see.”

Once Dallas gave the location, every detective on the squad sprang into action—every single one except Thomas.

I floated after him as he drove Sasha home. Not a single trace of me remained in the car. The fabric amulet I’d given him had been replaced by a pink plush doll Sasha loved, and a sticker reading “Sasha’s Seat” was stuck to the front passenger dashboard.

I sank into the backseat, my heart turning cold, inch by inch. In that moment, I fully accepted the truth: the man who’d once seen no one but me had truly fallen for someone else.

The car turned onto our old neighborhood street, police lights flashing in the distance.

Thomas’s fingers tightened around the steering wheel, and he spoke quietly.

“Sasha… are you absolutely sure you saw Cecilia drive off with Dallas that day at the flower shop?”

Sasha’s eyes welled up instantly as she turned to face him.

“What are you implying? Do you think I’d lie about something this horrific? If you don’t trust me, lock me up alongside Dallas!”

Thomas panicked, frantically whispering apologies until her tears faded into a soft smile of forgiveness.

I sat silent in the back, watching all the gentle affection he’d once reserved solely for me being poured onto another woman. I blinked, but no tears came—dead people couldn’t cry.

I couldn’t break away from Thomas’s side, forced to follow him all the way into the house.

The space was decked out from top to bottom for his wedding to Sasha, scheduled for the next day.
