The Internet Told Him to Leave Me, but He’s Still Holding Me Chapter 14

“And that day,” I said, looking up at him.

“when Jasper offered to drive me home-was that text on purpose too?”

The one where he’d asked if I was trying to kill him.

Damon frowned and pinched my cheek.

“Seeing my girlfriend about to get into my rival’s car? Isn’t it normal for me to get mad?”

“Huh?”

“What do you mean, ‘huh?’ Quit acting cute. You’re way too good at it.”

I ignored that.

“What do you mean your rival? I thought he was my rival.”

Damon looked genuinely confused.

“He doesn’t even like me. How is he my rival?”

He hooked a hand lightly around my neck, eyes narrowing.

“Tell me. Do you have someone else you like?”

“What are you talking about?”

“He wrote you a love letter in college!”

Damon let go and tapped my head.

“Dummy. That letter was for you.”

What?”

Back then, I’d been so furious I’d just skimmed to the end for the signature-never even read what was inside.

So Jasper had liked me? Which meant when I’d added him after that…

Damon must’ve remembered that too. His face darkened all over again.

“You even added another guy right in front of me. You’ve got some nerve.”

I snapped my mouth shut

So that’s why he’d been glaring at me that day.

I’d actually thought something was wrong with his eyes and dragged him to the campus health center.

Looking at his stern face now, I quickly leaned in and kissed him.

“It was a misunderstanding. All of it.”

His expression finally softened.

“That’s it?”

I blinked. “Then you wanna do it?”

Damon shot me a look, then leaned in.

I closed my eyes and waited. Nothing.

After several seconds, I opened one eye.

He was staring down at me, laughter dancing in his eyes.

I smacked his arm.

“You played me again!”

He let me hit him as much as I wanted. Then he leaned in and kissed my forehead.

“Not tonight.”

“You’ve been really good these past few days. Get some rest.”

“Otherwise you’ll end up sore again. And then you’ll blame me.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Smart choice.”
