The Internet Told Him to Leave Me, but He’s Still Holding Me Chapter 12

A few days later, Damon was getting ready to leave for work.

He even brought that men’s skincare gift set with him.

“This stuff sucks,” he said. “I’m giving it back. You coming?”

Over the past few days, Damon had been like a starving wolf that had finally found food.

I shot him a resentful glare.

He chuckled. “Don’t give me that look.”

“Alright, alright. Kisses.”

He bent down and kissed my cheek, then the tip of my nose, then my lips.

“I’ll save the rest for when I get home.”

Such a simple line-and yet my face still betrayed me by turning bright red.

“Just go!”

Damon left-looking back at me every few steps, as usual.

The second the door closed, I opened that thread again.

This time. I was posting.

That whole thread was a scam!

“Being clingy gets you dumped”?

“He’s seeing someone else on the side”?

“Guys get sick of comforting their girlfriends after work”?

If that happened, the problem was the guy. Not the girlfriend.

I was just about to unleash a full-blown rant when one comment caught my eye.

D [A clingy girlfriend is a blessing.]

[The day she goes quiet and stops clinging-that’s the day she’s done with you. It means you’re not worth the effort anymore]

Another comment from the same user appeared immediately after.

D: [All of you are just here fishing for sympathy and don’t even know how good you have it. Especially you,

OP.]

[This’s your fault. My girlfriend stopped babying me after reading your post.]

[Lucky for me, I’ve got enough game to win her back.]

[Nice try, you conniving little weasel.]

Suddenly, a bunch of people who’d been lurking chimed in.

[Right?! A few days ago I said my clingy girlfriend was the cutest thing ever, and the OP had the audacity to delete my comment!]

[I literally spend all day looking forward to hugging my girlfriend after work. Then she read this thread and stopped cuddling me. I’ve been miserable for days.]

[My boyfriend’s clingier than I am, and I don’t complain. So what right does he have to get annoyed when I want a little attention?]

[This. So much this.]

I stared at C’s profile picture. It was the silhouette of a girl against a sunset.

Back when we’d just started dating, I’d dragged Damon out to watch the sunset.

I even made him take pictures-none of which turned out.

Finally, I lowered my bar and told him to just get one decent shot of my back.

Who was D? So hard to guess, right?
