The Internet Told Him to Leave Me, but He’s Still Holding Me Chapter 08

The Internet Told Him to Leave Me, but He’s Still Holding Me Chapter 08

I had no idea why Damon was mad.

So I went back to that thread.

Today, there were a lot more posts from the girlfriends’ side for a change.

[I’m super clingy with my boyfriend. I always thought he didn’t mind. Until yesterday, when I found out he’d been seeing someone else. She gives him all the space in the world.]

[I’ve been trying not to be so clingy lately, but the second I see him, I can’t help myself. Why can’t he just be mine? Every app is full of people sliding into DMs. Isn’t having me enough?!]

[My husband’s always at business dinners. The interns under him are all so sweet and flirty. I hate to say it, but it really bothers me.]

[My girlfriend’s been checking up on me nonstop lately. It’s driving me nuts. I can’t even grab dinner with the guys without her blowing up my phone.]

Seeing someone else?

I rushed onto the balcony and looked downstairs.

From there, I had a clear view of the front entrance.

After a while, Damon finally walked outside.

A few moments later, a ridiculously flashy hot-pink sports car pulled up.

A sharply dressed man climbed out.

The first thing he did was throw his arms around Damon.

Then the passenger window rolled down.

A woman wearing oversized sunglasses crooked a finger at Damon.

Damon climbed into the back seat.

The car drove away.

I ran back inside, buried myself under the covers, and cried.

Damon, you’re such a jerk!

I spent who knew how long cursing him in my head.

Then my phone buzzed. It was a message from Jasper.

[Nerissa, my sister doubled her sales this year so she’s treating everyone to dinner. You in?]

Back in freshman year, Jasper, Damon, and I had all been in the same campus club.

During one event, the three of us had ended up on the same team.

To minimize Jasper and Damon’s time together, I’d taken the initiative and added Jasper myself.

Every update about club activities went through me.

Even after the event ended, Jasper would message me every now and then just to chat.

Then, for some reason, the messages stopped.

At the time, I’d been way too busy chasing every girl away from Damon to think much about it.

I never even bothered deleting Jasper’s contact.

I started typing a polite refusal.

Before I could hit send, another message popped up.

It was from the owner of The Gilded Nail.

[Nerissa! Dessert, boba, full-on feast-you coming or what? If you bail on me, I’ll be heartbroken.]

I’d spent years chasing girls away from Damon.

As a result, I barely had any girlfriends.

Most girls went out of their way to avoid me.

The salon owner was the only girl I’d met in the past two years who actually wanted to hang out.

At first, I’d assumed she was only nice because I’d spent so much money at her salon.

Then one day, while I was there getting a new set, some guy stormed in.

He claimed his ex had used his money to buy a membership there.

He smashed up the place and even tried to get physical.

Without thinking, she charged straight at him, threw him over her shoulder, and called the police.

She never panicked She was an incredible, total queen.

[I’m in. Send me the address.]
