His Love Value Disappeared When He Hurt Me Deeply Chapter 01

When I was twenty, I saved my boyfriend Logan Vance from a car accident and ended up with brain damage.

After that, I could see a glowing number floating above his head.

His Love Meter stayed locked at 100.

I was convinced he loved me more than anyone else in the world.

Until the day of our wedding rehearsal.

I passed out and got rushed to the hospital.

That’s when I caught Logan pinning my best friend Sophie Ellis against the far end of the hallway, kissing her so fiercely that the corners of her lips were bleeding.

“Sophie, I love you. You love me too. Why can’t we be together?”

Sophie’s eyes were red as she shoved him away.

“Logan, stop pushing me.”

“You can’t forget—Evie saved your life. You can’t do this to her.”

Logan’s voice cracked with pain and rage.

“Because she saved me, I’m supposed to give up my entire life for her?”

“I’d rather have died in that crash!”

Sophie couldn’t hold back anymore. She threw herself into his arms, sobbing.

That was when the number above Logan’s head dropped.

It dropped from 100 to 50.

I forced a smile, tucked the brain cancer diagnosis report into my pocket, and walked away.

Turns out love could be cut in half in one single moment.

If that was what it meant, I didn’t want this relationship anymore.

……

I stood around the corner, watching them kiss like they couldn’t get enough of each other.

Logan’s hand gripped Sophie’s waist.

The wedding band from rehearsal was still on his finger—the one with my name engraved inside.

Sophie rose on her toes and wrapped her arms around him.

The bridesmaid corsage on her wrist looked like it was mocking me.

Just three hours earlier at rehearsal, she had warned him with tears in her eyes.

“If you ever hurt Evie, I’ll haunt you for the rest of your life. Do you hear me?”

Logan had teared up and nodded after a long pause.

Now I understood.

Those thirty seconds of hesitation had been full of regret and longing.

But Sophie had been the one who introduced us.

Logan had chased me for a whole year before I finally said yes.

They’d had so many chances to be together.

Why now?

I crouched in the corner, heartbroken.

My feet had gone numb by the time they finally noticed me.

Logan rushed over, eyes full of concern, and helped me up.

“Evie, why are you barefoot again?”

Only then did I realize I had run out without shoes.

I never liked wearing them at home.

Logan used to warm my feet in his hands every single time.

This time, after glancing at Sophie’s sad expression, he hesitated.

“Here, wear mine.”

As he bent down to slip his shoes on my feet, the number above his head dropped again.

It stopped at 45.

Another five points gone.

Just because my presence made Sophie unhappy.

I swallowed the bitterness rising in my throat, shoved him away, and walked off without looking back.

I thought if I didn’t look back, I wouldn’t have to see any of it.

But the glass door of the hospital room reflected their silhouettes perfectly.

Sophie walked forward with her head down.

Logan hurried after her and gently pulled her into his arms.

She trembled but didn’t pull away.

Their figures overlapped.

My nose stung. My head throbbed.

The doctor’s words echoed in my mind.

There was only a fifty percent chance I’d survive the surgery.

Even if I did, I might lose my memory.

I used to be terrified.

Terrified I wouldn’t make it off the table.

Terrified I’d forget Logan and Sophie.

But now?

It felt like the perfect answer.

Dying or forgetting—either was better than this.

I pulled out my phone and texted the doctor.

“I agree to the surgery. Schedule it as soon as possible.”
