Left in the Flooded Kindergarten for His Childhood Sweetheart Chapter 07

I held his gaze steady. “When you stuck my parents in the storage closet, you had no trouble weighing their discomfort with such cold precision.”

His face blanched for a split second.

Kylie murmured off to the side, “Tristan, don’t let all this fall on my account…”

Tristan snapped his head toward her sharply. “This doesn’t concern you.”

It was the first time he’d ever spoken to Kylie with such raw, unfiltered harshness. Kylie froze mid-sentence, tears hanging on her cheeks, too stunned to even cry.

I watched the exchange with cold detachment, yet I felt zero satisfaction. This belated spark of remorse would never wipe away the tears Anna shed that stormy night, nor erase the three freezing hours my parents wasted waiting at the train station.

Tristan drew a deep breath, finally grasping how completely out of hand everything had spiraled. He softened his tone. “Nova, let’s talk this through properly. I’m sorry for these days. But divorce isn’t some trivial decision. Anna’s still little—can you bear robbing her of a father?”

I replied flatly, “Whether she has a father depends on if you ever acted like one, not on a piece of paper.”

He fell silent, caught off guard by my blunt retort.

I kept going, each memory sharp as glass. “The day of the downpour, you promised you’d pick her up, and you never showed. The night her fever spiked, you swore you’d meet us at the ER, only to rush to Kylie’s side instead.”

“The day my parents arrived in town, you guaranteed you’d fetch them, and left them stranded for three hours. Tristan, you made promise after promise. And every single time, you broke them.”

He parted his lips to speak, genuine embarrassment flickering across his features at last. “I never meant for any of this to happen.”

“The end result’s still the same.” I locked eyes with him, speaking slowly and with deliberate clarity.

“Anna won’t stop being terrified just because you didn’t mean it. My parents won’t erase those frigid hours waiting at the station just because you didn’t mean it. And I won’t keep forgiving you, no matter how unintentional you claim you were.”

A suffocating hush draped over the whole apartment. Veins bulged on the back of Tristan’s hand as he gripped the divorce papers tight. The silence stretched, thick and heavy, until his voice emerged hoarse and defeated.

“I won’t sign this.”

“Then I’ll file a formal lawsuit.” With that, I reached for my car keys off the counter.

Tristan blurted out reflexively, “What are you grabbing those for?”

“I’m taking back my vehicle.”

His face drained of all color instantly. “I’ve got a business trip tomorrow morning!”

“Take an Uber.”

“Nova!” He shouted my full name, his composure finally shattering.

“Do you really have to be this ruthless with me?”

I glanced back over my shoulder at him. “Tristan, we crossed the point of no return the moment you abandoned Anna in that torrential rainstorm.”
