He Secretly Used Our Down Payment to Buy Her a Luxury Bag Chapter 05

He stared at the long string of messages, not one of them marked Delivered.

Elliot’s heart sank.

Standing beside him, Camille Dawson assumed he was angry because Stella had refused to

cooperate. She reached for his arm.

“Elliot, don’t be angry. People like her just want money. Throw a little more at her and she’ll-”

Elliot flung her hand away before she could finish.

Camille cried out as she stumbled backward. Just before her head struck the corner of the table,

Elliot grabbed her and yanked her upright.

Then his hand closed viciously around her throat.

His expression was terrifyingly dark. “Did you do this on purpose?”

Unable to breathe, Camille’s face turned red as panic filled her eyes. “D-do what?”

“Did you deliberately send that iPad to her?”

Camille stared at him. “Her?”

“Do you even know who bought your iPad?”

She struggled to shake her head.

Elliot enunciated each word. “She is my fiancée.”

Camille’s pupils contracted. “No. I swear I didn’t know. It was an accident.”

Elliot’s eyes were bloodshot, and his fingers tightened around her throat.

Camille’s eyes widened. She realized he might truly intend to kill her.

She forced the words through her constricted throat. “Instead of taking this out on me, shouldn’t

you go home and explain everything to your fiancée?”

The pressure around her neck vanished.

Camille collapsed to the floor, gasping for air.

Elliot towered over her, his voice icy. “You’d better not be playing some kind of game. If I find out you deliberately tried to come between Stella and me, you already know what will happen.

“Get out of my life. I never want to see you again.”

Camille lowered her head, her shoulders trembling, but said nothing.

Elliot strode out.

He ran red lights all the way home, driving as fast as he could.

“Stella?”

“Stella!”

He called her name as he searched every room.

Stella was gone.

So were all her belongings.

She had left him.

The moment the realization hit, Elliot froze. A chill swept through him from head to toe.

After a long while, he finally remembered what Stella had said at the end of their last phone call.

He walked slowly into the living room.

An iPad sat on the coffee table.

It looked familiar. A moment later, he remembered seeing it for the first time on the day Stella

bought the designer bag.

She had known everything that early.

No wonder she had changed so suddenly.

Elliot approached the coffee table and reached for the iPad, ready to smash the thing that had

exposed all his lies.

Then a flash of silver in the corner of his vision stopped him.

His pupils contracted.

He stared at the trash can for a long time before bending down. With trembling fingers, he pulled

out a diamond ring.

A circle of tiny stars had been engraved inside the band.

It was the engagement ring he had given Stella.

She had thrown it away.

She did not want him anymore.

Elliot’s knees struck the floor with a heavy thud. He clutched the front of his shirt over his chest and dragged in one desperate breath after another, like a fish dying out of water.
