My Bestie Called Money ‘Dirty’, Now She’s Watching Me Get Spoiled by Eight Men Chapter 08

My Bestie Called Money ‘Dirty’, Now She’s Watching Me Get Spoiled by Eight Men Chapter 08

On the day of the Welcome Home Celebration, two vans from Silver Creek Group Home pulled into the driveway.

The moment Seraphina walked inside in a pretty dress, she grabbed Mrs. Carter’s hand, her eyes

already red.

“Mrs. Carter, I heard Brynn’s having a really hard time here. Please stand up for her.”

“You know how she is-she’d never admit she’s struggling.”

Several of the kids nodded along.

“Yeah. We’re here to see just how bad it really is.”

“Being a rich family’s kid can’t be all that. Seraphina had her reasons for saying no in the first

place…”

Before anyone could finish, I walked downstairs.

I was wearing a light blue dress Mrs. Whitmore had picked out herself.

A stylist had braided my hair and tucked a tiny pearl clip into it. Nothing flashy.

Just the kind of effortless beauty that came from being genuinely cared for.

Mrs. Whitmore stood beside me with one arm linked through mine.

“Brynn, your friends are here.”

I smiled and nodded. “Mrs. Carter.”

She stared at me for a moment.

“Brynn… you look so well.”

Seraphina’s face went pale. A second later, she forced out another smile.

“You do look great.”

“But appearances can be deceiving. Who knows what things are really like behind closed doors…”

She never got to finish.

Finn walked over carrying a drink.

“Brynn, your juice.”

He handed me the cup before turning to Seraphina.

“What were you saying about behind closed doors?”

Seraphina stiffened. “Nothing.”

Just then, Spencer appeared.

“Brynn! Are you opening presents yet? I’ve been dying for you to see mine.”

“No, mine first! I had a custom microphone engraved with your name.”

“Forget that. Check out the bike I got you.”

All eight brothers crowded around me, each trying to outdo the others.

The kids from the group home stood there in stunned silence.

They’d all assumed I was basically just a live-in maid.

Mrs. Whitmore took Mrs. Carter upstairs to see my room.

The moment the door opened, the room fell quiet again.

A wall of bookshelves. A desk of my own. A closet neatly filled with clothes.

Even a small piano by the window.

“Brynn likes quiet spaces, so we kept her room simple.”

Seraphina dug her nails into her palm.

Her gaze landed on my desk.

There was a stack of SSAT prep books beside a goal sheet for my future school.

Her expression grew even uglier.

“You’re… actually letting her continue her studies?”

Spencer overheard her and frowned.

“Why wouldn’t we?”

Seraphina forced another smile.

“I just thought families like yours would care more about etiquette… or arts training.”

“Education is her right, not a decoration.

“We adopted a little sister, not a showpiece.”

The words hit Seraphina hard.

When the party officially began, Mrs. Whitmore took my hand and addressed everyone.

“Having Brynn join our family has been a blessing to all of us.”

“She’s resilient, hardworking, and sincere,”

“We’ll always respect her choices.”

“From today on, she’s our beloved daughter.”

Applause filled the room.

Then Seraphina suddenly shot to her feet. Her eyes were frighteningly red.

“No! What makes her so special?”

“All she did was raise her hand before I changed my mind!”

“If I hadn’t turned them down, I’d be the one standing there today!”

The entire room fell silent.

Mrs. Whitmore looked at her, the warmth gone from her eyes.

“Seraphina. Weren’t you the one who said you didn’t want to be adopted by a wealthy family?”
