Outside the women’s dorm, Rachel’s face brightened with shy surprise when Lucas appeared.

It was the first time he had ever come looking for her.

Upstairs, several students leaned over their balcony railings, eager for gossip.

“Lucas, I can’t believe you came to see me.”

Rachel edged closer.

“Is there something you need?”

Lucas let out a cold laugh.

His icy gaze swept over her, and she shivered.

“I have the footage from the security camera near the pond.”

Rachel’s face went white.

Still clinging to hope, she forced a smile.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Lucas scoffed.

His patience was clearly gone.

“I’m submitting the footage to campus security.”

Rachel’s lips parted.

“If you ever go near Lily again,” he continued, “I’ll make sure the police see it too.”

“You also owe her a sincere apology.”

With that, he turned and walked away without a backward glance.

Rachel stood there with tears running down her face.

All her confidence disappeared in an instant.

“Why?” she called after him.

“Why her?”

Lucas paused.

A bitter smile pulled at his lips.

“Because I love her.”

“She’s the one person I would never hurt.”

“So no one else gets to hurt her either.”
