The Half-Blood Who Rejected Her Alpha Mate Chapter 04

The Half-Blood Who Rejected Her Alpha Mate Chapter 04

After the surgery, Damian came to see me.

“What did the healer say about your memory loss? Any chance it’ll come back?”

I turned on the hospital bed, avoiding his eyes.

“You are Vera’s mate. What I am going through has nothing to do with you.”

He didn’t even pick up on my tone.

He just kept going. “How’s your leg?”

I said, “The surgery went well, but I’ll need a long recovery. Looks like I’ll be stuck with a wheelchair for a while.”

He frowned. “Then you’ll need someone to look after you. Vera hasn’t been feeling well lately… what if I did it?”

That’s disgusting. He used my “amnesia” as an excuse to be openly with Vera, and he still had the nerve to act concerned?

“I heard from Vera that you’re the future Alpha. I’m nobody. How could I possibly let you take care of me?”

Damian nodded. “Fair enough. I’ll send a she-wolf to help you out.”

A moment later, he spoke again, “So you really don’t remember anything? We do know each other, you know. I’m not just Vera’s mate. I’m also your—”

The door suddenly opened. Vera walked in.

Damian’s mouth snapped shut.

A week later, I was discharged from the pack hospital and returned to the hunters’ house.

I was stuffing clothes into my suitcase when the door swung open.

The sound of laughter drifted in.

Vera walked in, followed by Damian’s parents.

Luna Clara looked at me with open disgust.

“Why are you still here? Damian’s about to make his bond with Vera. Why haven’t you left yet?”

Damian spoke up immediately, “She has amnesia, Mom. Go easy on her.”

“Really? All the more reason for her to leave. The pack has no place for a hybrid.”

Anger surged through me.

“I paid for this house. What gives you the right to kick me out?”

A few years ago, Damian wanted to build a bounty hunter team to hunt vampire.

Many powerful packs had organizations like that. But his father refused.

I was the first one who believed in him. The first to sign up.

Mission after mission, I risked my life. I brought in bounty after bounty, all to build his team.

If I had not gone out on so many runs and made enemies with vampires, I wouldn’t have been attacked.

I wouldn’t have ended up with a shattered leg. I wouldn’t be in a wheelchair now.

And now, his hunting team had become the strongest among all packs.

I was the one who contributed the most, yet I was being told to leave.

Alpha Lester pointed at me.

“A rogue’s daughter with no manners! Who gave you the right to speak to your Alpha and Luna like that?”

The next second—His aura slammed down on me.

I struggled to breathe.

But what hit me harder was the scent, familiar and unsettling.

I looked outside toward the path beyond the cabin. A figure stood there.

The moment I recognized him, a chill ran down my spine.

Rod. My biological father. A rogue exiled from the pack.

Not long after he got with my mother, his true nature showed.

He killed her and the was cast out.

And I was left branded forever as the rogue’s daughter, the murderer’s child.

Unlike the polished image of Lester and Clara, he wore ill fitting clothes. His collar hung loose around his neck.

His hair was a mess. Stubble covered his jaw, uneven and unkempt.

When did he come back? And why here?

Before I could process what I was seeing, Vera stepped behind me.

She grabbed my wheelchair and spun it to face him.

She leaned close to my ear. “Take a good look, Raven.”

“With a father like that… You need to let Damian go.”
