The Half-Blood Who Rejected Her Alpha Mate Chapter 03

The Half-Blood Who Rejected Her Alpha Mate Chapter 03

My hand froze around the pen.

“Memory loss? The patient did suffer a head injury, but—”

The healer had not finished when Vera suddenly cried out in pain.

Damian’s attention snapped to her instantly. “What’s wrong?”

Her bare feet were covered in cuts. Blood was dripping down.

“How did this happen? Does it hurt? Why didn’t you get it looked at sooner?”

Vera pouted, playing it off.

“I heard Raven was attacked by a vampire, so I shifted and ran all the way here. I was too nervous to notice the pain.”

A strange pang of grief hit me.

Maybe… without Damian, Vera and I would’ve stayed best friends forever.

After I was rushed to the pack hospital, she was the first one there.

She ran here in her wolf form. Even tore up her feet doing it.

And Damian?

My fated mate, the one who was supposed to love me, was the last to show up.

Damian turned and left. He was going to get Vera a pair of shoes.

I was about to be wheeled into surgery when he walked out without hesitation.

“Raven.” Vera spoke again. Shattering the last bit of calm.

“Don’t blame me. Damian should have a better Luna. I have the right to fight for what I want.”

I didn’t answer.

The sound of the rain felt too quiet. It couldn’t drown out the pain in my body.

But Vera wasn’t done. She started listing everything, one by one.

“Those gifts you wanted from the human town? He didn’t forget to buy them. He just gave them to me.”

“Last month, when he bailed on visiting your grandmother’s grave? He was with me.”

“And Alpha Lester renovating the pack house? That wasn’t for you either.”

Each word felt like it was cutting deeper into me.

Still, she kept going. Her hand rested gently over her lower belly.

“The Alpha is preparing rooms for his future grandchildren.”

“I’m already two months along.”

“Damian wanted to find the right time to tell you. I’d say today works just fine.”

In that moment, I felt my mate bond with Damian break completely.

Half a month ago, I lost a child.

And Damian… he’d shown no joy at the thought of becoming a father.

I went out celebrating with my hunter squad for three days. He stayed silent for all three.

“Raven, it’s not the right time. My father won’t accept this pup. Do you want our child to grow up as the most unwanted in the pack?”

My voice shook. “Damian, you swore you’d make me the most respected Luna in the territory.”

“Now you’re asking me to give up our pup… do you even love me?”

Tears streaked down my face.

He kept his head down, refusing to meet my eyes.

“Raven, you have to understand where I’m coming from.”

The next day, he forced me to get rid of my baby.

As the anesthesia kicked in, a cold numbness spread through me.

Everything went dark.

And in my mind, his mother’s voice echoed, calling me shameless.

To her, I was nothing but a hybird. A rogue’s daughter.

Someone who should’ve stayed far away from her Alpha son.

Back then, I’d thought maybe Damian was right.

Maybe I shouldn’t let a pup be born into such a heavy fate.

As the daughter of a rogue and a human, I knew exactly what it felt like to be unwanted.

But now, Vera was telling me she got pregnant before I did.
