One Touch, One Truth Chapter 05

One Touch, One Truth Chapter 05

The moment my words fell, the entire ballroom went silent.

Tristan, standing beside me, frowned slightly, “Felicity?”

I didn’t even look at him.

Instead, I continued speaking into the microphone.

“I want to thank Tristan for helping me realize, on the very day of our ceremony, who he truly wanted to mark.”

“And I want to thank Cora for teaching me that after paying for her education, supporting her living expenses, and loving her like my own sister all these years…”

“…I had only raised a snake.”

The crowd erupted.

Cora’s face turned deathly pale as she shot to her feet.

“Felicity, what are you talking about? Today’s your Marking Ceremony with Tristan. Stop making jokes like this.”

I looked at her calmly, “A joke?”

“Cora, aren’t jokes your specialty? Then I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one the most.”

I turned toward Elder Grace, “Play it.”

The lights dimmed, and the giant screen went black.

A moment later, the image appeared.

It was footage from the fixed security camera inside the bridal lounge.

Onscreen, Cora was wearing the veil my mother had left for me as she sat before the vanity.

Tristan bent down and kissed her.

She kept saying they shouldn’t be doing this, yet her arms remained wrapped tightly around his neck.

As they fell onto the couch together, the veil slipped beneath them.

Several pearls were torn free and scattered across the carpet.

The ballroom fell into a deathly silence.

Then came a chorus of horrified gasps.

“Oh my God…”

“Was this right before the ceremony?”

“Isn’t that the bride’s veil?”

“That’s absolutely disgusting.”

Tristan’s face drained of all color.

He immediately rushed toward the control booth, “Turn it off! Who told you to play this?”

But I’d already given strict instructions. The video was to be shown in its entirety.

On the screen, Cora’s voice rang out again.

“Tristan, you’re awful. This is the veil Felicity’s mother left her. If she ever found out you used it beneath me before your wedding, while we…”

Before she could finish, Tristan silenced her with another kiss.

The ballroom exploded into chaos.

Tristan’s mother, Luna Violet, shot to her feet, her face as white as paper.

“Tristan Ford!”

Her voice trembled with fury, “Have you lost your mind? That was the last thing Felicity’s mother left behind!”

Alpha Maddox slammed his hand onto the table so hard that the wine glasses rattled.

“You disgraceful fool!”

“Every allied pack is here today. Our entire pack, our family, our friends. You’ve humiliated our pack in front of everyone!”

Cora’s parents stood frozen in shock.

Her mother was the first to react.

She stormed over and slapped Cora across the face.

The crack echoed through the silent ballroom.

Cora clutched her burning cheek, staring at her mother in disbelief.

“M-Mom…”

Aurora was trembling with rage, “Don’t call me that!”

“Felicity paid for your education, supported you financially, and treated you like her own sister.”

“And this is how you repaid her?”

Cora’s father slowly rose to his feet, his face dark with anger.

“Our family may have been poor, but we never taught you to steal another she-wolf’s mate.”

“And we certainly never taught you to do something so shameless right before her wedding.”
