The Mafia’s Forgotten Daughter. The Desert King’s Jewel Chapter 05

“Anyone who dares touch my sister—you’re dead!”

Gunshots rang out. My brother’s roar practically shook the entire hall.

Camille stepped forward, trembling. “Honey… who did you just say she is?”

Zayn’s eyes narrowed. One hand steadying me, the other cracking across Camille’s face.

“You’re the snake who set Monica up and shipped her to that mining zone?”

Rafael stepped in front of Camille.

“What the hell are you doing! Who gave you the right to hit her! This wedding is off!”

Victor immediately slapped Rafael across the face.

“Shut your stupid mouth!”

Sweat beaded on his forehead as he bowed deeply. “Mr. Zayn Al-Nassar, sir, my son is an idiot. Please don’t take him seriously. How could we cancel the wedding on such an important day?”

Zayn looked at him like he was looking at a corpse. “So you’re the animal who calls himself Monica’s biological father?”

Anger flickered in Victor’s eyes. But he suppressed it instantly.

“Misunderstanding. Monica is my daughter. I was just trying to take her home.”

Then his cold stare shot toward me—a warning. Don’t say a word.

I smiled, tugged on my brother’s sleeve, and shrank into him like I was terrified.

“Zayn, they didn’t just hit me… they wanted to drag me back to the dump! I’m so scared.”

He patted my head. “Don’t be scared, little one. They’re going to pay for this.”

Then he turned to his armed soldiers.

“Tear down this banquet hall. Now.”

“Retrieve every gift the Al-Nassar family sent.”

“The wedding is canceled.”

Three sentences. Like a bolt from the blue.

“That beggar is actually Al-Nassar’s daughter?”

“Are you crazy calling her a beggar? She’s an Al-Nassar princess—one word from her can shift the entire economic landscape.”

“The Vescari family is done. They thought they hit the jackpot—turns out they pissed off the real treasure.”

Camille grabbed Zayn’s arm, tears streaming. “Zayn, you can’t do this! Have you forgotten the vows you made to me?”

He shook her off. “The Al-Nassar family would never take someone like you.”

Then he raised his hand. A soldier stepped forward, ready to remove the ring from her finger.

Camille clenched her fist so tight her nails nearly pierced her palm.

But they pried her fingers open roughly and yanked the ring off.

Her hand bled, but she still wouldn’t let go.

Rafael’s eyes turned red. “Camille, let go. I’ll buy you a better one. I promise.”

The soldier gave one hard tug. The ring came off—bloodied and pathetic.

Victor stared at the ring, then at Camille. Disappointment and fear twisted across his face, but he didn’t dare speak a word in her defense.

Camille completely broke down. She spun around and screamed at Rafael.

“Who cares about what you buy! Who do you think you are!”

In her panic, the truth slipped out.

Rafael froze. Humiliation. Disbelief.

“Camille… what did you just say?”

“I said I love Zayn! Only his ring means anything!”

Beside them, Elena broke free from the soldiers’ grip and rushed to Camille’s side.

“My baby, let Mommy see. Does it hurt?”

Camille’s eyes darted away—she wanted to run.

Then Elena saw Camille’s bloody hand. At least she was a decent mother. She lunged at me.

“You bitch! You hurt my daughter—I’ll tear you apart!”

She didn’t get close. Zayn stepped in front of me.

Elena went crazy, pounding her fists against his chest—until a cold gun barrel pressed against her temple.

The soldiers dragged her away again.

Rafael stared at Camille, pain and confusion in his eyes. “Camille… you already reunited with your biological mother? Why did you never tell me?”

Camille denied it immediately. “No—that’s not true. I have nothing to do with her.”

A flash of hurt crossed Elena’s face.

She didn’t say another word. But it was clear enough—they’d been lying to us for years.

I took the necklace and the ring from the soldiers.

I held them up, looking down at Camille like she was dust on the ground.

“Want them? Beg me, and maybe I’ll give them to you. On behalf of the Al-Nassar heiress.”

Camille nodded frantically, her hair whipping around. Hope reignited in her eyes.

“Monica, I’m sorry—it’s all my fault. I was just so scared of being thrown out. Please forgive me.”

She dropped to her knees. Her forehead hit the floor, tears and snot smearing across the marble.

I smiled—slow, cruel.

“Cut all ties with the Vescari family. Then maybe I’ll put in a good word for you.”

Her head snapped up.

Rafael sneered. “You think Camille is like you—trash who betrays her own family?”

But Camille had already opened her mouth.

“Do you really mean it?”
