Revenge On My Cheating Actor Husband Chapter 09

Revenge On My Cheating Actor Husband Chapter 09

“Mr, Crane, you will not raise your voice in this office,” Axel warned.

“For a whore like Harper, voices must be raised. I know she seduced you, Mr. Jennings. I will help you break free from this woman. She will ruin your life,” Theo smirked at me.

“That’s enough! You will address our Chairman with respect, or we will have you thrown out.”

“C-Chairman?” His eyes widened at first, then narrowed at me. “She must have really gotten into your head. I need to speak to you privately, Mr. Jennings. I don’t want this obsessed woman interfering in our business.”

“Let me guess,” I finally spoke. “You want to tell him how unstable I am, even though you are the one being, ridiculed by the whole world.

And then you want to propose a silly deal. Maybe you think you can use your bad reputation to produce some desperate little movie you’ve written over the last few days, and you want Crest Entertainment to invest. Right?”

The shocked look on his face told me I had read his mind correctly.

“Ah,” I chuckled. “That’s all you could think of to save your life.”

Theo’s face turned red. He rushed to Axel and dropped to his knees.

“Mr. Jennings, please don’t believe anything Harper has been telling you. She’s manipulating you! She’s been mentally abusing me for months and that’s why I let Gemma into my life! Harper is the problem here! She’s unstable, she-”

Axel slapped him so hard Theo fell to the floor with a bleeding nose.

“I won’t tolerate any more insults to the Chairman of Crest Entertainment Group,” Axel said coldly.

“T-That can’t be right! Harper is just a poor orphan who stuck to me because she knew I had star potential. How can she be Chairman?”

“Simple,” I answered. “I slept with a billionaire and convinced him to sign over his billion-dollar empire to

me.”

Theo couldn’t process it. “Fine,” he nodded frantically. “Keep up whatever act this is. But none of it changes the fact that I left you for a woman who is a hundred times better. I’ll rebuild my career. Watch me.”

“Yeah, yeah, with your incredible movie idea,” I chuckled all the way as he walked out in shame.

One week later, I was officially announced as Chairman of Crest Entertainment Group. The news hit every headline. The media was stunned that the quiet wife of the disgraced Theo Crane had turned out to be the sole heir to a multi-billion dollar conglomerate.

I received many interview requests but turned them all down. I was sick and tired of the media at this point.

“You look so beautiful, Harper,” Axel complimented me from the door. It was the day of my inauguration.

“I know, right?” I admired my image in the mirror. This emerald dress was everything.

As my reflection stared back at me, my mind drifted to three years ago when I had just completed my

master’s.

Axel had been on my case about the Chairman position for weeks. I kept telling him I didn’t need the title. I owned the majority shares, what did a title change?

“Harper, you cannot run a company you refuse to show up for,” he had said.

“I’m not running it. You are.”

“Exactly my point.”

After enough of that, I agreed to at least visit the subsidiaries before making a decision.

That was how I ended up at Crest Studios on a Tuesday afternoon, dressed plainly and looking around.

And that was where I saw Theo.

He was an extra they had turned into a cleaner between takes. Theo was mopping the studio floor, but every few minutes he would stop and look at the lead actors on set. He looked at them with hunger, like he was already rehearsing in his head for the day it would be his turn.

That day, I spent longer at Crest Studios than I had planned to, and made sure all the extras were paid double before I left.

For some reason, I kept returning to only Crest Studios. Eventually I approached him with pastries and told him I worked at a bakery nearby.

I hadn’t planned to lie. I just thought a simpler version of myself was easier to approach.

I kept showing up, kept postponing the truth, and when he casually mentioned how he never liked rich girls, I shelved the truth completely.

I couldn’t risk losing him because I was one of the rich girls he said never understood what it was like to want something.

Looking at myself in this dress, I shook my head.

“I can’t believe I let Theo convince me to hide my true identity,” I turned to Axel, who was still standing by the door. “Thank you so much, Axel.”

“Anything for my sister,” he smiled.

“And anything for my daughter,” came an older voice from behind Axel.

My heart rate picked up.

“Jennings Sr.?” That was Axel’s father.

He was my late father’s best friend and had always been like a father to me. After my father died, he took over for me, and when he got sick, he handed the responsibilities down to Axel.

“Hello, daughter.”

I ran into his arms. As he hugged me back, a tear escaped my eye.

“I missed you so much.”

“Aww, my daughter,” he stroked my cheek. “Axel kept me updated about everything that has been happening. I am so proud of you, princess. I know your father would be even prouder.”

An hour later, I was giving my speech at the inauguration ceremony when I noticed a familiar figure working among the ushers.

I continued my speech like nothing had happened and returned to my seat afterwards.

Theo came to my side and placed a wine glass on the table. Then he dropped to his knees.

“Harper, I was wrong. I should have been honest with you. I should have told you that I had enough love for two people. I shouldn’t have chosen Gemma over you. Please, take me back. Forgive me.”
