The Devil Alpha’s Last Chance Chapter 09

The Devil Alpha’s Last Chance Chapter 09

A soft chuckle reached my ears.

“You’re far too young and beautiful. Even if he could let you go, I couldn’t.”

The figure gradually came into focus.

The man standing before me looked strikingly similar to Paxton, sharing seven or eight parts of his

features.

He withdrew his hand from my forehead and smiled.

“Your fever finally broke. You were burning up for three straight days. Your body really doesn’t make things

easy.”

I stared at him in confusion.

He offered a gentle smile.

“My name is Landon Hart. I’m Alpha Paxton’s distant cousin and the acting Alpha of this pack.”

The moment he said those words, tears flooded my eyes.

“He… asked you to take care of me?”

My voice trembled.

Landon handed me a tissue, guilt flickering across his face.

“He entrusted you to me a long time ago. I’m a pack doctor, and I’d been traveling between packs treating patients, so I was delayed.”

I wiped away my tears and whispered, “Thank you.”

He looked at me seriously.

“Your illness isn’t hopeless. Don’t give up.”

I smiled faintly but didn’t believe him.

No one knew my body better than I did.

Seeing the doubt in my eyes, Landon took out his phone.

“He left this for me. No matter what happens, I’ll keep my promise.”

When I read the message on the screen, I completely broke down.

“I’ve never asked you for anything. Only this once. She’s suffered enough. Please take good care of her.”

I cried until I could barely breathe.

From that day on, I started taking my medicine on time.

I ate properly.

I cooperated with every treatment.

Landon was a wolf doctor.

Back when he often camped in the wilderness, he loved catching fish and always claimed his grilled fish was

the best in the world.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat it.

My stomach could only handle fish boiled in plain water.

Sometimes, I’d catch a glimpse of Paxton in him.

Whenever I did, I would lose myself in thought for a long time.

Little by little, I grew used to this quiet, peaceful life.

Until Zayden found me.

“Yasmin.”

He caught up with me just as I stepped out of the examination room.

The moment he saw the hospital gown I was wearing, his eyes instantly turned red.

“I was wrong…”

I stepped away before he could touch me, “We’re strangers now.”

My voice was cold.

“You’re not my brother anymore.”

Zayden froze.

“Yasmin… I know everything now. You were abused in prison, weren’t you? I’ve already punished everyone

who hurt you.”

“And Zara… I never imagined she could be so vicious. I’ve already had her admitted to a psychiatric

hospital…”

“I don’t want to hear it.”

I cut him off without hesitation.

“Yasmin, please come home with me…

He reached for my hand, but someone shoved him aside.

“She already told you she doesn’t want to hear another word.”

Landon stepped in front of me, shielding me behind his back.

His expression darkened.

“If you don’t leave now, I’ll exercise my authority as this pack’s Alpha and banish you from our territory for good.”

Zayden looked as though he wanted to say more.

But when he noticed how pale I had become, he swallowed the words.

In the end, he only said quietly,

“Yasmin… get some rest. I’ll come back another day.”

I hadn’t expected his “another day” to arrive so quickly.

The very next afternoon, I was sitting on a bench outside the pack hospital, quietly enjoying the warmth of

the sun.

Without any warning, Lucian appeared in front of me.
