The Devil Alpha’s Last Chance Chapter 06

The Devil Alpha’s Last Chance Chapter 06

He turned around and found a middle-aged woman with short hair staring at him warily.

Before he could speak, she said, “I’ve already rented this apartment to someone else. Judging by the way you’re dressed… don’t tell me you’re one of Yasmin’s relatives?”

A look of pity crossed her face as she shook her head.

“No… Yasmin didn’t have any family.”

Zayden’s voice trembled, “I… I’m her relative…”

I’m her brother.

For some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to say those words,

The woman looked at him suspiciously.

“A distant relative? Or someone from her old pack?”

“You came looking for her?”

She sighed, “Then you’re too late. She moved out yesterday.”

“What?”

Zayden nearly lost his footing.

“You should leave. I need to hand this apartment over to the new tenant.”

She was about to usher him out when she saw his reddened eyes.

“Do you know where she went?” he asked hoarsely.

She paused before the caution returned to her expression.

“How would I know? That poor girl was already sick at such a young age.

“You look like you have money. If you’re really her relative, why didn’t you help her when she needed it?”

Yasmin…

She had been sick.

Everyone knew.

Everyone except him.

Forcing himself to remain composed, Zayden said, “I’d like to take my sister’s belongings.”

“You’re her brother? Can you prove it?”

He froze.

How could he prove it?

Ever since Yasmin had returned to the Bloodmoon Pack…

He had never truly treated her like his sister

He couldn’t even remember how he left the apartment.

He only knew that he ended up sitting alone in a corner, repeatedly calling Yasmin’s number, looking utterly

defeated.

When Zara arrived, his deathly pale face startled her.

She forced a smile as she slipped her arm around his.

“Brother, Yasmin must just be hiding because she’s angry. Let’s go back to the hotel first, then we’ll keep looking for her.”

She tried to help him to his feet.

Just then, a black car pulled up beside them.

It was Lucian.

“The pack keeps asking,” he said quietly. “When are we bringing Yasmin home?”

Zara’s head snapped up.

“Bring her back? Why?”

Lucian answered evenly.

“She’s the daughter of the former Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack. She belongs there.”

“Besides, our engagement still stands.”

Hidden behind her back, Zara’s nails dug deeply into her palm.

Why?

Why should that bitch be welcomed back just because she was dying?

She was now the Bloodmoon Pack’s only female heir.

Why should Yasmin’s return force her to carry the shame of being the fake daughter?

Why should everyone’s attention be stolen from her?

Even on the verge of death…

Yasmin still refused to disappear from her life.

Zayden’s face was ashen.

His voice was hoarse, “We can’t find her. We’ve lost Yasmin.”-.

Lucian’s expression darkened instantly.

He pulled out his phone and dialed her number again and again.

No one answered.

“I can’t reach her either.”

He looked at Zayden.

“I’ve been away in the capital handling business. What exactly happened while I was gone?”

Before Zayden could answer, Zara hurriedly cut in.

“Come on, Lucian. Yasmin even changed her last name. Even if you want to bring her back, that doesn’t

mean she’ll agree.”

Seeing the guilt in Zayden’s eyes begin to fade, she quickly added,

“This isn’t the time for that. Help Zayden up. Let’s go back to the hotel first…”

Late that night, Zayden lay awake, staring blankly at the ceiling, an unbearable weight pressing against his

chest.

His mind kept replaying the image of Yasmin clutching her medical books, her face pale as paper and her eyes red as she quietly said, I won’t compete with her anymore.

She had become so painfully thin.

Why hadn’t he noticed?

A sharp pain clenched around his heart, making it difficult to breathe.

Just then, a text message from an unknown number appeared on his phone.

It contained a video.

The moment he pressed play, every drop of blood in his body seemed to freeze.

In a filthy, dimly lit corner of the prison, several inmates surrounded a frail young woman, beating and kicking her without mercy.

One of them pinned her right hand beneath his boot.

The sickening crack of breaking bones echoed through the room.

“Go on. Call that amazing Alpha brother of yours to save you.”

The group burst into laughter.

The girl curled up on the floor, trembling in agony, not even daring to cry out.

Then the man’s boot came down even harder on her hand.

“Ah!”

Zayden slammed his fist into the wall.

The veins on his forehead bulged as blood seeped from his knuckles, yet he felt nothing.

Regret threatened to swallow him whole.

With shaking hands, he typed a reply.

“Who are you? What do you want?”

The response came almost immediately.

“Behind the liquor store on Seventh Street. Come alone. Bring five million dollars, and I’ll tell you everything that really happened back then.”
