I Caught My Don Husband Cheating With My 18-Year Best Friend At The Car Chapter 08

Lorenzo sat on the living room couch. A dozen empty bottles littered the table in front of him.

Lucy came to see him again

She leaned in close and heard him muttering to himself.

“Mia… I’m sorry…”

She froze there for a long time, then shook him awake.

“Lorenzo. Do you even love me?”

Lorenzo blinked at her blearily, trying to focus on who was in front of him.

Her voice started shaking.

“You’re the one who came after me first. You’re the one who gave me a chance. And now you’re playing the

tragic devoted husband?”

He pushed her hand away and stumbled to his feet.

“Where are you going?” She stepped right in front of him.

“You’re going to find her again? She’s gone! She doesn’t want you anymore!”

Lorenzo stopped and looked at her.

“You know what the biggest difference is between you and Mia?”

She froze.

Lorenzo laughed, cold and bitter. “I’ll admit, you were new and exciting at first. Like some weird exotic food -first bite blows you away.”

“Yeah, I felt something for you at the start. But that feeling only existed because of her. Without her? You’re just another calculating woman clawing her way up. I’ve seen a hundred just like you.”

Lucy screamed and swept the bottles off the table.

“Lorenzo, you’re such an asshole.”

He laughed. “Yeah, I’m a total bastard. That’s how I lost Mia. What’s your excuse, then?”

With that, he walked right past her and headed for the estate gates.

Lucy stood there, listening to his footsteps fade away until there was nothing left.

She slowly sank down, leaning back against the leather couch, and buried her face in her knees.

At the exact same time, I sat in a regular hair salon in Veridion City, staring at my reflection in the mirror.

The stylist asked, “What style cut are we doing today, miss?”

“Short hair. I’ve always wanted to try it.”

The stylist ran her fingers through my long hair, smooth and healthy all the way to the ends.

“Your hair’s in amazing condition. You’re really sure you want to cut it all off?”

I’d taken such good care of it only because Lorenzo loved long hair.

Truth was, I’d always liked how I looked with short hair better.

When she saw how set I was, the stylist didn’t argue.

Snip snip snip. Long strands fell to the floor one by one.

I watched the woman in the mirror grow stranger, then slowly start to feel familiar again.

I realized then-I liked this version of myself way more.

I deleted every photo on my phone that had Lorenzo or Lucy in it.

After that, I started running.

Woke up at six every morning, ran three miles along the riverbank.

At first I could only make it halfway, had to walk the rest back.

Pretty soon, I was doing the whole thing no problem.

When I was running, my mind went completely blank. Just breathing, just footsteps.

Every single day, my mom cooked me something different.

A week later, I finally called a lawyer.

I had the divorce papers sent to Lorenzo.

Property split, real estate division, debt settlement-everything laid out crystal clear.

My lawyer worked fast. The next morning, Lorenzo got a delivery.

Thin envelope. Divorce papers inside.

He flipped to the last page. The signature line for the other party already had my name on it.

Neat, clean, no cross-outs.

He stared at my signature for so long that Lucy walked over and snatched the papers right out of his hand.

Lucy let out a cold little laugh.

“Having second thoughts? Too bad-knowing Mia? She’s never gonna forgive you.”
